I don't know how HP managed to be unable to fix this issue, but it's been there for years now...
Something that might work for you would be to click on start/run and then type in "cmd" to open command-prompt. Then type in the following: "net stop spooler" then type: "net start spooler" - this will stop the printing services, you could try to restart your computer between the 2 steps at this point if it doesn't work the first time
I hope this solution works for you, it's usually how i solved my hp printer problems. In case this problem happens too often, I recommend trying to change the driver version for you printer.
