Blood pressure monitors can frequently become uncalibrated. First make sure that your batteries are fresh since one's running low on a charge can give faulty readings. If this doesn't help, contact the manufacturer, they recommend calling them at 1-800-568-4147 every couple years to arrange for an accuracy test. Page 20 of their manual should help a bit more.

My blood pressure is 142 over 80 I'm 71 year old female is that normal my doctor didn't seem concerned

That is ok, but high normal. And age has no bearing on blood pressure, what is high for 12 year old is high for an 80 year old. Are you carrying extra pounds? If so loose them and lower the risk of a heart attack by lowering the blood pressure reading. You can read more at www.webmd.com

Good day, Is blood pressure reading 145/102 high? Do I need to go a doctor?

Good morning. Yes, 145/102 is high. I would suggest going to the doctor to discuss options for lowering your blood pressure and keeping it in a normal range.

My Blood pressure is 116 over 69 I am 61 years old should I be concerned

I am 71 with close to the same readings but I have a record of pressure readings at the doctors so any variations up or down can be read by the doctor which is what you should be doing as a random reading on a home unit is really telling you nothing
hydration, anemia, stress and lots of other variables can affect blood pressure readings so see your doctor on a regular basis --monthly or 3 monthly to get a history for a better understanding of the readings

Hi my son is 29 and has a blood pressure of 138 over 71 is this normal

138 is a bit high. Get him to a doctor.

Quick Answer

To read a blood pressure chart by age, locate your age range, then view the corresponding normal systolic and diastolic numbers, notes Disabled World. The chart offered by Disabled World features average blood pressure readings for 14 different age ranges. For adults between the ages of 25 and 29, a normal blood pressure reading is 120/80 millimeters of mercury. Average blood pressure increases with age.

Mod hem 704c reads high compared to doctors blood pressure readings

There are many things that can affect the readings. Cuff size is one of the biggest. If the cuff is on the small side it will not read as accurately as a cuff that fits properly. Keeping the cuff at heart level is important as well. Many people have to put the cuff lower on the arm if the cuff is too small and then they don't raise the cuff to heart level. This will give a higher reading. What is most important is to ensure that the readings are consistent. While they may be higher than the doctors office, as long as they are not dangerous, use them as a baseline and monitor fluctuations over time to ensure that your medications are doing their intended work.

I'm 66 yrs of age my blood pressure is 155 over 98, is that too high?

Hellfire, yes. You need to visit a doctor and get checked out. You need medication to control it, and then you either stay on the medication or modify your lifestyle a bit, a bit of exercise, watching salt intake and coffee intake. Stress is also not good!

My blood pressure was similar to yours and I have been on meds for 20 years. I am 63 in a few weeks. One thing if you are using a blood pressure monitor, you should do three readings. The first is always high. relax, breath deeply and slowly, and take it again.

There is a chart here. Get it sorted out sooner rather than later, like Monday!

Reading is off form what doctor has

I would trust more in doctor's reading then in the device you have, but you could check with other members of your family who have normal pressure. If returns too low, might prove that doctor is correct.

My Omron 711 seems to register readings that are too high when compared to doctor's office or monitors in drug stores, etc. Is there a way to check accuracy of the monitor?

Take the cuff to your doctors office and have the nurse check with yours and the office BP cuff. If your cuff is too small, you will get a false high reading.
