Question about Bissell Vacuums

1 Answer

This vacuum cleaner is BRAND NEW!!! I am vacuuming a tile floor. It seems to pick up the dust, etc., and when you turn around it all back. under the vacuum! The canister is usually empty, but is clicked in place properly. I have had a Kirby for 30 years...I have no idea what this is about.

It can be due to several things. from dirty filters to clog/s in the hose or tubings to incorrectly placed dirt cup.
You didn't mention the model you have, but you can find the manual on the following site, and it will tell you how to take care of the filters.

Okay Roger, at least you are open to discussion of the issue!! The other guy just said "defective, send it back." Anyway, is called Healthy Home. I have the manual. I just used it to clean up the stuff that was left behind with the wand attachment and that worked just fine and went into the canister. As I originally said, i am quite an expert with a Kirby, but this is a just a puzzlement to me.

Like I said, it is new. How could the filters be clogged?

Have you checked the rotary brush at the front. They should have a little arrow or padlock symbol showing which way to turn them

I have a dc56, will the new tangle free turbine tool, part No 925068, fit it?

Hi Lyn, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC56, the new Dyson Hard vacuum cleaner, is engineered for quick cleanups on hard floor surfaces - wood, laminate, lino, tile etc. It also converts into a powerful handheld vacuum for dusting tasks around the home and inside the car.

The Dyson Hard is not designed for use on carpeted floors, and we do not manufacture a motorised head for this machine as it lacks the wiring and connections needed to supply current to a motorised head.

Airflow-driven Turbine heads, such as the Tangle-free Turbine tool, are engineered to work with the performance characteristics of our mains-powered vacuum cleaners, and are not compatible with Dyson cordless or handheld vacuums.

However, we do have a range of accessories which are compatible with DC56, and you can find these on our website: http://www.dyson.co.uk/accessories/variant-accessories.aspx?pid=DC56-dyson-hard

What causes my Shark Vacuum to work only intermittently?

If the brush roller operation is intermittent, there may be hair jammed inside the end caps. The brush roller can be removed and the end caps also for inspection. Intermittent operation also can be caused by a stretched drive belt.
The periodic failure to pick up may be caused by something such as a ball of hair migrating through your vacuum cleaner and stopping from time to time to test your patience

I have the bissell powertrak revolution. I have hardwood floors...even on the lowest setting it is throwing some dirt back at me instead of picking it up....

do not worry about this....it is a common issue with every brand of vacume this style....the poblem is not of power or quality..but rather one of friction or lack of resistance because of the smooth floor surface....carpet surfaces permit the brush part of the roller to FLICK the dirt back up high enough ( only millimeters) to be sucked by the continuous suction flow of the vacume...however smooth finished hardwood or tile floors allow for the heavier none dust particules on your floors to be swept accross the floor with speed...if there was a back drop on the back end of your vacume cleaner these particules would be stoped and sucked up....try taping a strip of brstle board paper with scotch tape to the back part of ur vame head and see if it makes a differnce. Put the paper at dragging floor level and tape it..then sprinkle some dried toast on the bare floor and try it....let me know if it works...

The vacuum cleaner does not pick up anything from carpet. It does not even pick up pieces of thread laying on carpet. On tile floors it blows dirt away instead of picking it up. I've tried all the settings...

Sounds like there is a clog..

Usually its in the hose - look closely.. Stretch the hose out straight and look in there good..

Or a clog could be in the vac close to where the hose conects to the vac on either end..

This is most case scenario with these types of vacs..

I hope this helps !!
Please rate me good ;o)

** suction

You have an airflow problem. You may still have a blocked intake or tube, also check the filter. The air is supposed to go in the bottom (of course) and I'm sure you k**w where it goes out. You probably can **te a reduction in exhaust. If this is a bagless make sure everything is fitting together properly. Mis-aligned components on a bagless can mean little or ** airflow. If this is **t a bagless, try changing the bag whether it is full or **t.
