SOURCE: amp 5050 rmx stay in

Disconnect speakers. With NO input, if clip light remains on, take in for repair as there is an internal failure. If reducing the gain and loudness keeps the clip off, then you are probably driving the amp too hard. This is common problem when the user "thinks" they need it louder but the amp speaker combination will not deliver louder. At this point, both the amp and the speakers are at risk of permanent damage requiring repair.

Why does it keep going into protection mode?

There are several circuits that can prevent start up, not the least of which is the power supply itself. Check the owners manual, it may tell you about conditions that could cause this. The next step is to open it up. There may be something obviously wrong, burnt, disconnected or stressed. Barring that, we'd be into board and component level testing. If you know what your doing, the output stages of these high power amps are a good place to start.

How to I use 2 additional qsc 500 watt power amps to push 6 jbl225x (4) ohm cabinets. I am running unbalanced stereo. Thanks, William

You don't say which QSC Amp. Assuming it is one that can only drive down to 4 ohms you are going to have to run a pair of the jbls in series for each channel of one amp (making the impedance 8 ohms for the pair) and run the other pair from the channels of the other amp. Running unbalanced is not a problem except for interference but you don't say what the source is. If you have more than one output (aux or sub bus for example or poss even a monitor output if you're not using it) it may be beneficial to take one amp from there as you will have some control over the relative levels from the mixer. Otherwise you'll just have to parallel the amps.

Hello,

Two possibilities here, one is a cracked pin on one of the power supply UF diodes and the other one that the power output devices got fried.

MAckie 1604 VLZ Pro Mixer, running QSC 1850 with jbl's from main outs. I would like to hook up powered subwoofers. What is the correct pathway? kenshireman@msn.com

The best way is to use a two-way crossover between the mixer and the amplifiers. In your case, the low output from teh crossover would go to the powered subs, the highs to the QSC. Use the crossover adjustment to set the frequency crossover point to get the sound quality you require.
