Question about Sony MHC-DP1000D System

1 Answer

I have connected my new Sony S370 Bluray player to my Old DP1000d Audio system using Optical cable. When ever I play any content in my BD Player that has DTS audio track, I am getting lot of distortion and noise in all the speakers. Dolby and 2 channel audio contents are played with surround effects perfectly. When I change my settings in BD player to map PCM instead of DTS to Optical out, this issue is not felt. But in that case, I am loosing the surround sound effects what I am supposed to get from the DTS tracks. Is there a way I can get this issue resolved and enjoy DTS tracks ? Please let me know if you need any more information. Many thanks in advance

It sounds like you have an old reciever that does not support that kind of dts sound format. You may have to upgrade your theater equipment.

When you say "a lot of distortion and noise" do you mean something other than ONLY digital hash noise?

    Do you mean MHC-DP1000d?

Does it play DTS from its own DVD/CD player? Your DP needs to be set to decode DTS from its own player. The manual doesn't actually SAY you can decode DTS from an external device.

American Blu ray dic not playing in my malaysian sony bdp -s370

BD media does have region codes. But, unlike current DVD players, the region codes for BD media use letters instead of numbers to indicate a particular zone or region where the discs can be played.

The BD region codes are as follows:

  • Region A: North America, South America, U.S. Territories, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and other areas of Southeast Asia
  • Region B: Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand.
  • Region C: Asia (except for Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and other areas of Southeast Asia)

CAN I USE HDMI CABLE TO PLAY MOVIE THROUGH DAV-DZ270 TO A LCD TV ?

Yes. This is what you should do. Connect the Bluray players HDMI cable directly to your TV, then use an optical cable (usually around $20-40) to go from the Bluray player to the surround system. You will then need to enter the menu of the Bluray player and set up the Audio to be run through the Optical output instead of the HDMI. Problem solved!

My Sony BDP-S370/BX37 does not play all the Bluray discs I have. For instance it will not play Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland but will play Disney's Sleeping Beauty and Coraline. What do I need to do?

In most cases, the issue might be with the Java contents on the new Blu-ray discs is making this issues. The Blu-ray technology is developing everyday and adding more and more features to the existing technology. Hence it is required to make the Blu-ray Player up-to-date by installing the latest firmware update available from the manufacturer (who ever it is). Going ahead with the first step, please install the latest firmware update available for the Blu-ray Player.

Please click the following link to get the latest firmware update available for your Blu-ray Player:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?upd_id=6237&mdl=BDPS370

You can review the "Important Notes" and "Firmware Update Instructions" on the page to get the instructions to install the firmware update.

If the issue persists after installing the firmware update, it would have been with the disc. Check the disc with another player; try different discs with same player.

If the Blu-ray Player is not at all playing any Blu-ray disc, then it may require service.

Hi,
You need to run optical cable either from tv audio out or bluray audio out to Yamaha to get bluray surround sound, I'm afraid, there is no other choice/ option.
Thanks.

Video but no audio

This receiver does not support audio via HDMI. You need to connect BD player via spdif cable. Use optical or coax depending on what does the BD player support - receiver supports both.
