Fluttering glitchy screen

Hi, how can I switch to using a different monitor, since the one on my 2 yr old A55 is all fluttering and blinking with horizontal lines, and a dark spot in the lowest right corner..It's very hot down there too.

I am getting a pink screen then the whole screen will flutter with lines so I can't see or do anything. Someone said a new video card would fix it but I want to be sure before I do that.

If your laptop supports dual monitors then it's a pretty easy fix. Plug in an external monitor and secure the screws. reboot your system and it will recognize the external monitor and set it up as your main monitor. you now have access to all your files w/o the cost of replacing your laptop screen (which would cost about as much as a new one). ^_^

I accidently removed something from my toshiba satelite A55-S1066. now my screen won't come on. Although I hear it. What do I do?

If you can't see anything as it is booting up then the black light on the display is out, as in broken. Get close to it and look on the edges and see if you see any light. If you see something but no picture your back light is out.

There's a function key, look for a pix of a moniter on one of the f keys. That switches it off and on. Try using an external monitor and see if you have a display. It may be stuck on external monitor if you were using one. Using another monitor will allow you to see and change it to the laptop display.

It could also be that the video chip went out on the motherboard...

Laptop won't start.

connect yr system to an external Monitor(CRT) if it comes up then yr problem might be from the inverter, backlight, screen etc.
but if it doesnt come up then yr VGA card may be damaged.
NB:u must be sure ur system is up n working by pressing the caps lock key to check if the caps lock led will light up. if it doesnt lite up then yr system isnt up n running . what yu do at this atage is to replace the ram n or processor then it should display normal.
hope this helps
thank u

Accessing data of a "dead" computer

The easiest is to connect a standard CRT monitor to the external video port. Enable this from the laptop using the function key. One of the functions keys should have what looks like the outline of a standard monitor on it. Using the CTRL key and that function key will turn on that video port.

Power but not pic

Hi

Fn+F3 is the hotkey for Standby. However you can use Fn+F5 to toggle the display. If Issue persists disconnect the AC adapter and take the battery out then press and hold the power button about 5 seconds. Put back the AC adapter and battery. Turn on the computer. If you need further assistance please post your question.

Good Luck
