Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Have a 2009 34' Cougar 5th wheel with a roof mounted A/C with an internal Dometic thermostat. When I turn the AC off at the thermostat, the fan quits blowing but I can still hear the compressor running. I have to trip the breaker to get turn the compressor off. Running on "auto" the fan will quit but not compressor...does cool. Is there maybe a stuck compressor relay??? Where is it? On the roof?

Sounds like a bad contactor. The contactor will be near the compressor on the roof.

I have a Dometic 15K roof Ac on my FW. After the AC reaches therm temp, the compressor and the fan turn off, but the fan starts right back up again and runs until you set the thermostat on off.

That is normal operation, only the compressor cycles, the fan stays running to keep air circulating for better temp control. Otherwise the rear of the space could get 5 degrees warmer than the front

My Dometic AC is mounted on a sloped roof (as are a lot today). However in humid weather when the AC is putting out a lot of water, the fast speed of the fan pulls water out of the evaporator pan and...

Clean air filter and evaporator coil periodically. And also insulate tightly for the pipelines including drain pipe also. The heat hose observe the water over the pipelines and evaporate. Thanks and helpful?

AC and furnace turn on and off frequently.

Your unit is short cycling. Most likely suspect is the thermostat is mounted in direct line with the discharge air. Adjust diffuser away from stat or relocate stat.
