Question about Audio Players & Recorders
The hdmi jack on the tv is an INPUT jack, not an output. to use your reciever for tv sound, you have to find the audio output on the tv (most do not have an audio out, but some higher end tv's have a fiber-optic digital out, which may or may not be compatible with your surround sound reciever)
if your tv does not have an audio out, the only way to get the tv sound into the styereo is to use a tuner box, like a cable box or satelite box. tuner boxes always have either hdmi or stereo audio outputs.
to use hdmi with your surround sound, you are supposed to run HDMI OUTPUT from the tuner box or disk player into the HDMI INPUT of the stereo, and then run the HDMI OUTPUT of the stereo into the HDMI INPUT of the tv.
