On our Gator it is in the front of the vehicle. There is a screw that you have to loosen in the center of the grill under the "hood". Once you take that out there are two plastic latches on the side to be popped out. Then the whole front end will hinge down and you will see the receiver for your charger...although our charger receiver is square not round.

A charger is usually equipped with the factory packing. If not then definitely you need to buy another one. You can also use a standard 12 volt charger to charge the battery with a few modifications but that will be D.I.Y project which many people didn't like to do...Now its upto you, What you want to do....
I can guide you through the process if you want that, but I'll need some info regarding the shape and make of the battery( more Preferably an Image).

It sounds like the battery is not going to take a charge. My Grandkids have many of these toys and I get my parts from mypegperegoparts.com
here is were I buy my batteries because they have a coupon they let me use
I also call them when I need help at 1.801.655.0800.
