Question about Miele G880 Dishwasher

1 Answer

The check intake/drain keeps coming on after about 5 minutes into the dish-washing cycle. I used to be able to just lift the silver filter piece at the bottom of the dishwasher, put it back, turn the dishwasher off and then back on again and it would work. Now I have to do it about 5-6 times before the cycle will complete. Can you diagnose the problem, is it something I could fix myself?

Thanks Kevin, we checked the drain hose and rubber ring assembly, put everything back together and the dishwasher ran. Next time we have to run the d/w I will do what you suggest above.

  • brandeep Mar 14, 2011

The next time we ran the d/w the intake/drain indicator light came back on so I performed all of the steps that you outlined above and once again the cycle did run when I turned it back on. I guess I will need to wait to see what happens on the next cycle, will let you know.

Okay so the third time we ran the d/w the light lit up yet again. I am not sure that I removed the actual pump assembly for cleaning-is there a diagram you can send that would point out the main parts that I should check/clean-do they come out fairly easily?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

The problem is with clogged drain filter pump assembly, you can take it apart from the bottom to clean the drain filter pump assembly. After you have cleaned it completely then turn the selector switch to STOP/END or press the START/STOP for 20 seconds. After you have done all this unplug the appliance for 5-10 minutes and plug it back to solve this problem. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I have an F7 Asko D5131 dish washer showing F7 how can I fix this?

The "F7" code means that the drain is blocked. To remove items from the drain: 1.Turn power to unit off. 2.Remove the "Coarse Filter" by squeezing the tabs together and lifting out. 3. Remove the "Fine Filter" and "Main Filter" by removing the screws around the filters and lifting them out. 4.Remove the small black adapter piece and check the sump area for debris. 5.Wash the filters out gently with hot, soapy water. Do not run the unit without the filters in place! 6.Replace the black adapter piece to its original position FIRST (Important!). 7.Replace the filters in reverse order of removal and turn the unit back on. The error code should reset and work normally. *In areas with hard-water, the filters should be removed every 8-12 months and submerged in a chemical solution (CLR or LimeAway) to remove mineral deposits

First perform a vinegar cycle wash in the dishwasher. Pour a cup of vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher. Keep the temperature at the highest setting possible and perform a wash cycle. Then start using a dishwasher most probably that would solve the problem. If this does not solve the problem then there must be some parts worn out or faulty creating the problem.

There are many probable causes of failure .

To clean the dishes the water temperature is essential. It the water is not hot then the dishes will not be cleaned properly. So check the water temperature.

No you need not wash the dishes but just cleaning of the debris and then putting it in the dishwasher for proper cleaning will help you to prevent the drain from getting blocked.

Hi there, my washing machine will not finish it's cycle and keeps stopping with 3 minutes to go. I am unable to open the door and can only re start a new cycle. I had drained the machine manually...

hi emily pritch and welcome to fixya,

Consider also if your washing machine has a timer. Or maybe theres a piece of something left or fall on the spinner that is why it does not drain properly and stop in a minute. If you can have your unit checked by the service provider so that they can also checked if the electrical may also be the reason.
thanks and have a nice day.

If you are in an hard water zone , then try reducing the amount of detergent used and then try cleaning the dishes.

Have a 2+year old LG LDF6810ST dishwasher that shows no error codes but is not cleaning like it used to. Have city water, do not leave excess food on dishes when loading, am only using powder after...

Try these things in order:

-Try to use a name brand powder, rather then a generic. Even a small box. I had similar problems with my LG dishwasher when I tried to save money by buying a generic powder. My dishes did not get clean and white marks were left behind on my stainless steel DW liner and the dishes. When you ad the powder, do not over fill the dispenser. Add less than the full dispenser cup and close it. Place some powder in that shallow square indent on the dispenser lid to help the pre-wash cycle. Also, run the water in the sink until hot water runs immediately before you start the DW.

-If, after using Electrosol or Cascade for 2 - 3 loads and your dishes do not come out clean, then I would run a load of dishes without adding the soap. Start the dishwasher and wait for it to fill and begin to wash. Open the door and add one cup of vinegar (white vinegar is fine.) Feel free to ad another cup after the first wash water drains and the second wash water enters and the DW begins the wash cycle again. Run a load of dirty dishes with the soap and check for good cleaning.

-If the problems continue, it is time to remove the filter assembly by removing the 9 silver phillips screws from the filter assembly. You will also need to remove the lower sprayer arm by pulling straight up and then out. With a flashlight, inspect the sump area that was hidden by the filter assembly, looking for any debris that has jammed into anywhere down there. Watch out for broken glass as you feel around. Reassemble and test with a load of dirty dishes.

The poor drying may be caused by not keeping the rinse aid re-filled. Check that first.

Also, these water and energy conserving dishwashers actually use the "dirt" from the dirty dishes to help clean the dishes during the first two wash cycles. Simply clear the big chunks off the dishes and put the dishes in the DW.

Please report back what you find or if you have more questions. OK?

Admiral DDB1501AWW Dishwasher

This worked for us - I hope it works for you. We have had problems with grit on the dishes, especially in glasses or items on the top racks. We tried: Different detergents; Heavy cycle every single load; loading different ways; rinse agents; shopping for a new freakin' machine!
After reading the total lack of satisfaction people had with almost every machine listed, and a very unsatisfactory level of hot water during a shower - I realized the core intake temperature of our water dropped significantly in the fall/winter. I went and used the "high temp wash" on some seriously soiled loads (on heavy cycle). Everything came out clean. I am back to using the normal cycle for everything, but always with the High Temp Wash. I figure the improved performance saves rerunning loads, longer cycles, and frustration - so I am fine with the added electric expense. I always use rinse agent. I use Walmart dish soap.
Good luck!
