Question about Garden

Hello. I just lifted my lawnmower over to drain the old oil to replace it. I have a poulon pro 550 briggs/stratton 158cc model 961240002 00. the is a plastic cover under there that i guess protects the belt for the self propel drive. I cant figure out how to get the dam thing off do get to the drain plug. i took the blade off and took the two bolts out to loosen the plastic cover but it wont come off to get to the drain plug. beats anything i have ever seen. it shouldnt be that dam hard to get to the drain plug. do you have any experience with this or answered this question before. any help would be appreciated. thanks, lee......

There should be a single screw at the front, once removed the plastic guard has two lugs on the back that locate into holes in the deck, as best you can push one side in at a time to allow the lugs to come out of the deck holes.
This may come as a surprise, but many Briggs engine no longer have a drain plug, the oil is sucked out through the dipstick hole, or the mower is tipped up and drained through the dipstick hole, there are devices readily available for sucking the oil out, check out the local dealer or hardware shop.

I have a Poulan Pro 6.25 HP and it has no drain plug. You have to tip the lawnmower over to drain out of the dipstick or use the equivalent od a long turkey baster to **** it out.

Cannot find drain to change oil.

Poulon 550 yellow 22" Briggs and Stratton. It looks like you have to drain it out the cap by tipping it. There IS no plug on mine - spent 40 minutes looking for one, and I know what both types of the plug look like. What a lousy design. This mower is a piece of junk. The valve froze a week after I got it. Never again. A headache.
