To reset the password if you have forgotten it, you must reset the whole thing to factory settings, which means you must reconfigure everything. This involves the mode button which is the little button to the right of the ethernet and cable lock slot, this will require a pencil/pen: 1. Disconnect the power to the access point 2.Plug the power cable back in and at the same time hold in the mode button 3.Hold the button for about 3 seconds until the light turns amber 4.Wait for it to reboot and you should be able to reconfigure like it was brand new

Connecting to the AP

To connect to the Access Point, follow the steps below:

  1. Use a straight-through cable with 9-pin-male to 9-pin-female connectors to connect the COM 1 or COM 2 port on your computer to the RS-232 port on the AP.

  2. Open a terminal-emulation program on your computer.

Note: These instructions describe Microsoft HyperTeminal; other programs are similar.

  3. In the Connection Description window, enter a name and select an icon for the connection and click OK.

  4. In the Connect To window, use the Connect using pull-down menu to select the port to which the cable is connected, then click OK.

  5. In the Port Settings window, make the following settings:

    • Bits per second (baud): 9600

    • Data bits: 8

    • Parity: None

    • Stop bits: 1

    • Flow Control: Xon/Xoff

  6. Click OK.

  7. Press Enter.

Can get router to work

The Cisco Aironet 1200 access point provides secure wireless connection to your network. Cisco's wireless access design meet the needs of a small to medium size business.

This unit provides secure network access for laptops or Wi-Fi capable portable devices, which you upgrade at any time as your business grows.

A beneficial feature of the Cisco Aironet 1200 is its ability for the administrator to reset the access point remotely.

This resetting process works through your internet browser.
Log on to the System Configuration page by entering your Cisco Airnet 1200 IP address in your browsers web address text box.

Enter your user and password information from the pop up menu.
Click on the "Setup" button from the summary status page.

Select the "Cisco Services" setup option and click on "Manage System Configuration."
Click on "Reset All System Factory Defaults" to reset the router.

The Cisco Aironet 1200 will be restored to factory defaults.

Reset Access point Cisco 1020

If your current controller can't see the AP, then the 1020 can only be reset through the Controller it was originally configured with. It doesn't have a console port, so you have to connect it to the old controller and run "clear lwapp private-config"

When I enable the vlan option in an EAP9550 I lose wireless access

Bruce,

Is the goal to use a different VLAN for each access point (AP)? If so then you will need to configure each NetGear port to use the same VLAN as the AP that is connected to it. You will then need either a switched virtual interface (SVI) for each VLAN on the NetGear or a trunk port (802.1q) from the NetGear to the Cisco. I'm not sure the NetGear will support SVIs but it will support trunks. An SVI basically creates a gateway for each VLAN's subnet. For example, let's say AP1 uses VLAN 10 and the subnet is 10.0.10.0/24 while AP2 uses VLAN 20 with a 10.0.20.0/24 subnet. The NetGear will need 2 SVIs, one for each VLAN/subnet. The first SVI for VLAN 10 can be configured with IP address 10.0.10.1/24 while the second SVI can be configured with 10.0.20.1/24 for VLAN 20. These IP addresses will be the gateway for each VLAN. Finally, the NetGear would need to act as a router and route each VLAN's subnet to the Cisco device. Once again I don't believe the FS726TP supports this.

The other solution would be to create a VLAN trunk port between the NetGear and the Cisco device but I believe the Cisco RV042 does not support trunking. If it does the trunk would be configured to carry all of the VLANs to the Cisco device which would then have SVIs created on it.

If neither of the above is possible you would need to use the same VLAN for each AP and each of the interfaces on the NetGear and Cisco devices which negates the need for the VLANs.

I hope this helps.

I forgot to change the default public credential User: cisco and pwd: cisco. Un fortunately I did restart the router. I would like your assistance to gain access to the router or to reset it back to...

Here is a cisco page that goes over the password recovery procedure. Once you reset the credentials, you can make any configuration changes needed. You will also have the option to keep the existing configuration in place but change the password, if the configuration has any use to you.

Configure cisco aironet wifi

if ur using IOS autonomous AP, then u'll need to configure the bvi interface to get an ip address and then enable the interface. once it has an ip, u'll need to configure the ssid, vlan, etc - choices include doing so with the CLI or web page GUI. U'll need to enable the built-in web server then u can access it via the web interface to setup the ssid, any vlans, radius, etc. good luck.
