I have a Gateway Desk Top #4822-01 I use Rockfish Sound card. I have a sherword #x4109Stereo Receiver I also have a-Audio Fast Track Interface...I want to use the Interface'svast number of intakes for Instruments, Voices, etc. Right now I can listen to the range of disc's products using the computer for play back. I want to record using the Interface on to a disk in the computer. I can put with etensions a lot of things through the 8mm on the back of the computer sound card which is a Rockfish 7.1 sound card. They (playbacks) all seem to go into that one plug with a load of extensions the card has no way I can tell what is what. at the moment it is in a pale green insert, but I am supposed to be able to wire this thing so it does record, play back,,etc. At least that was what was to told to me,,,real nice if they would tell you how to hook it in to the computer...It does connect with a USB #2 plug. That is it I don't know what else to tell you. Thanks for any effort you put into this!

The pink one is the mic/line input, you will need a mixer to plug in all your various instruments. If you use a mixer you will be able to put all the vocals on one side (left) and the instruments on the (right) side, in essence having two channels. later when you mix the channesl in your software you will be able to raise and lower the vocals, or the insturments so one is is not too much louder than the other. If you have other questions about this, I'll be glad to respond.. I own a recording studio and do record into my computer, although not using the sound card.

M-Audio USB

U need an external phantom power supply, they run about $19.99, or you can get a different interface which has phantom power onboard, the cheapest one would be the m-audio mobile pre usb but that would not work on vista 64 bit... best bet is to get external power....

How Do I Capture Live Audio with M-Audio Fast Track Pro

All you have to do is to connect with 2 cables your cd's or dvd's output to the two 1/4” TS plus in the front side of the Fast Track Pro and a usb cable from the rear panel of the Fast Track Pro to your pc's usb port. I suppose that you have installed the drivers for Fast Track Pro at your pc.
Anyway in case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post.

Taking recordings from mixing desk

As the Fastrack can only receive one audio signal at a time you would have to record each track seperatly into Pro Tools.

I'm guessing your mixer is a multitrack recorder.

Solo track 1 on the multitracker and playback from there into the Fastrack, with track 1 on Pro Tools set to record. Repeat this for each or your tracks on the multitracker.

When you've finished you'll need to align all the tracks in Pro Tools so they all playback in time with each other.

Sound coming through computer speakers instead of through fast track.

Check your audio settings to make sure that it's going to the right driver. goto: start -> control panel -> sound and audio devices out of the 5 tabs, you'll want to pay attention to 2 of them, these are the "audio" and "voice" tabs. Make sure that your speakers on are the external sound system's drivers and not your internal sound card. (Basically, make your sound playback the same as your sound recording)
