Minolta Dimage A1

Can't transfer to computer. Using a Windows XP and transfer function used to work. Will not connect to software. I have tried to swith transfer mode from Data Storage to Computer Control. Neither will work now. Have Uninstalled the Dimage Software and reloaded but have noticed the USB Driver install is not allowed. Anyone have a problem like this. I don't want to go to the local camera shop every time I need to transfer prints to paper ot CD storage.

I bought a card reader and use it instead of directly connecting to computer with camera. Saves battery life and cost under $30 canadian. Simple file transfer this way. At least your camera is still working! Mine is dead and Sony says no parts available.

Download software software drivers

I found a Minolta site in Germany where you can download drivers for win 98. For the newer Windows (2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 8) the drivers are already in Windows. Second link is for the transfer software.

Problem transferring photos to computer

Bypass the clumsy software and USB port altogether: see if you can upload to your computer using a CF card reader.

If it works you'll get quicker uploads as well, and if it doesn't work then you have a faulty CF card and will need to try reformatting it (in the camera, not using the pc!) or will have to replace it.

Another possible solution is to reinstall the KM software to your computer as the KM software is quite buggy and seems to corrupt quite easily.

What OS does the DiMAGE A2 support?

It's immaterial as the supplied software is poorly executed and completely unnecessary.
Just use whatever photo album software and editing package you're happy with and transfer the images from the camera using a cheap and readily available CF card reader. You'll also find that this results in far quicker uploads to your Mac/pc as well.
