If you have another clipper, you can test the blades out on them to see if your blades are sharp. As for the blades not cutting on your clipper it could be a couple things. Your blade drive could be worn and not allowing the cutter blade to travel far enough each way to make a clean cut. Another thing to check is that your blade latch is not broken. This is the black hook by the blade drive on the clipper. If the blade latch is broke, the blade won't stay tight up on the clipper. Thus the blade will act like it is dull.

How to fix a riding lawnmower that is cutting grass unevenly

Check that blades are sharp and not bent. You may need to dismount the whole deck from the machine. Turn it upside down and clean all accumulated grass and gunge from inside the housing. Check that the spindle bearings are tight and not floppy. If they are, replace them. Remove seal from inside of bearing so grease can enter when servicing the bearings. Do not over grease and blow outer seal out. When you have checked that 1. Bearings are sound, 2. Blades are sharp. Blades are balanced. This may require placing a rod in the vice and putting blade so it swings freely. Grind more off the low end until it sits level. 3. Check that blades are not bent. To do this tie a builder's line across the edges of the deck over any wear guides. Make sure they are the same height each side. Get a ruler or a block that just fits beneath the string on the end of the blade. Rotate half a turn and measure the other end. They should be the same. 5. Check that the blades match in the centre. EG they must must not be any difference in height at all. The string line will tell you whether the spindles are the same height and also whether they are in the same plane. If not, you may have to remove them from the housing and clean the matching surfaces spotless and then pack with thin washers or strips of thin tin or shimm material until blades are a good match. It is surprising how many machines are not properly done in the factory. . 6 Make sure the blades are not worn out. If ground back too far they leave a ragged finish with bruised cut ends that look bad. The ends doing the cutting can be higher than the blade inside and thus rubbing on the grass. If all these things are right, reassemble mower and drop deck into working position. Measure from a flat floor to the blade ends so they are the same on each side of the machine. Adjust by screwing the hanger threads as required. Blades should be flat as if they are low either front or back the cuts will be hollow in the middle and leave a wavy surface behind.

My toutliner cutting too sharp

Adjust your blade. Remove it from the clipper, and then loosen (don't remove) the two screws that hold the blade and cutting edge together. Use a FLAT surface, like a ceramic sink top or flat piece of tile, and push the cutting edge down and angle the blade with the cutting edge facing the flat surface down to about a 30 to 35 degree angle. Use your thumb to hold in place until you can retighten the screws. Under a light, inspect to see if it is level (it will be noticeable if it isn't) or oil the blade and touch it to a clean dry piece of paper. If it is level, replace the blade on the trimmer, and edge your beard. It should be better than brand new. This also works when it doesnt seem like the blade is cutting sharp anymore. ALWAYS make sure the cutting edge is lower than the blade or you WILL CUT YOURSELF or YOUR CLIENT!

Clippers have suddenly stopped cutting and seem to pull at the hair

Generally removing the two screws.. on the blade foot (don't do this over the sink unless the drain is closed!).. and taking the blade apart.. cleaning the trimmers with a small brush.. apply grease in the blade groove.. reassemble

Usually it's best to put those two screws back just get them in lose.. not quite snug..set the blade upside down on a flat surface..so it pushes the blade back away from the cutting end..level..then tighten those screws while you are pushing or holding down on the clippers cutting edge against the flat surface/table. ... oil the blade with the proper oil or a light mineral oil.

This usually will get them back to cutting properly..the blade should be oiled prior to each use...about two to three drops right along the visible part..or a light spray also hair should be clean.. dirty hair does not cut well at all..and the clippers will tug and pull rather than cut cleanly.

Lastly..if they see a lot of use. might be blade replacement time..

Best of luck!

My clippers are no longer cutting. I took it apart today and cleaned out all the hair but I still can't get it to cut. I felt it and it's very sharp it's just not cutting any hair. I have been told it...

there is probably hair stuck between the cutters
remove the cutters from the clipper and you can push the top blade out from under the spring retainer making sure you keep the small plastic runner strip
clean the surfaces and using a flat bladed screw drive insert the blade under the spring and twist slightly to allow the top blade to slide back in
while it feels sharp , it is the sides of the cutter fingers that cut the hair ( like miniature guillotines) and those edges are easily worn off

I took it apart to clean, and now I barely cuts

Make sure the blades are even. It sometimes is hard to match when you take them apart. If they are even off a little bit they don't work. good luck

Ryobi 18V Hedge Trimmer Blade Question

I use a dremel with a sharpening stone, if u don't have one you can also use a power drill with a small sanding disk (1 inch) and course sand paper (30 or 40 grit). or you can use a bastard file. its too tight to use any kind of angle guide so just take your time and do it by eye. it shouldn't take much to get them sharp enough to do the job, over-sharpening is unnecessary and dangerous, and will make the blades dull faster. sharpen all the free blades, top and bottom, then start the trimmers to advance the blades to free up the sides you couldn't get. i use a light penetrating oil to clean the blades first, then lithium grease spray to lubricate.

How do i clean the iris blades?

This is for Sanyo VPC-HD1, VPC-HD1A black screen problem how to clean auto iris unit.First you have take apart camera : remove 4 screws from right side (in battery compartment) 2 screws from bottom, 2 screws from top (there are different short one is from rear) and last screw from front, now pull left cabinet from top and take appart.Be carefull !!! there is flash capacitor you need to discharge it before doing anything else. You can discharge with  1Kom 5watt resistor . After that remove 1 screw holding speaker, disconnect and remove speaker. Now pull power board PW-1 there is a screw holding lense ring remove that screw, disconnect 2 connectors from lense assy (from ccd just pull, from lense unlock and pull flat cable now you can remove lens assy. Next remove 3 small screws holding heat sink (rear of lens assy) after that remove spacer (black tape from top of lense and another small tape at rear top of lense. Now you can see 7 white screws and 1 black screw remove all of them.Black screw holding iris unit. Now carefully lift zoom motor focus motor 2 sensors nd filter assy and iris unit they came out all together.Next thing main thing you have to open iris unit it is easy to do with sharp blade on the edge of iris unit you will find 2 locks holding  metall casing of iris unit put blade between metal and plastic case and pry to remove metall case. Now you will find iris 2 blades there are different you need to remember wich is wich. Now carefully remove both blades (they might stick to each other because of grease) and place them into isoprophyl alcohol after that put them on to napkin fold napkin so blades are inside and dry them you also need to clean iris unit where blades are going from grease and also clean zoom motor and focus motor shafts to remove grease. Now put everything back together and i hope you can do that. Good luck.
