No additional drivers are necessary. Your CanonScan 5600F is listed in "Printer and Scanner software available for download," http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669 .
To add your scanner, simply plug it in. If it does not appear in Apple Menu > System Preferences > Print & Scan, you may need to run Software Update (also from the Apple Menu, second item down), and then click the plus ( + ) button in the lower-left of Print & Scan, select your scanner, and then add the printer.
The default scanning application in OS X is Image Capture. After completing the above steps, open Applications > Image Capture and you should see your scanner listed on the left.
This may help others with scanning issues:
I just bought a Brother MFCJ6510 printer/scanner and was nearly driven cracked trying to get the scanner to work as it was not talking to the PC, even though as a printer it was working fine. Realised eventually that it was just the Brother Control Centre 4 it wasn't talking to. After hours of re-installing software and updates, etc, nothing worked.
The solution: I went into Control Panel on my PC (I use Windows XP), to the Scanners and Cameras section, and in there the Brother Scanner was visible and could be used from there, Click on it to open the Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard and use that. Further, by right-clicking on it and going to properties I choose the software to start when it talks to the PC. I abandoned the Brother CC4 and set it up to start the Scanner and Camera Wizard if I choose 'Scan to Image' on the scanner control panel, and to open Photoshop if I 'Scan to File' on the scanner. Works fine either way, just make sure you choose the right dpi setting to suit your needs.
Hope this helps somebody else as frustrated as I was.
Click on Start -> Run ->Type: services.msc
and click OK, this will bring the services window up. Scroll down to
print spooler, turn on then double click on
the Print Spooler Service and set start up type to Automatic, then click
OK. Restart PC. Now, you have to reinstall the software (if you can't find it, please tell me your model so I can search it for you) If this won't work, completely uninstall all the software and again, reinstall it. Click on Start -> Run ->Type: Control Panel in the dialog box and
click OK. Click on add remove programs and uninstall the software for
the printer.
Then check Under the Printer and Fax to see if it was uninstalled. If
not then just delete it. Printer and Fax is located in Control Panel. Once
it's completely uninstalled you have to reinstall the software for the printer.
Simply install the driver for the scanner and printer on the HOST system. Plug in your peripherals and when the user on the L300 logs in they should see the printer. The problem with the fingerprint scanner is depending on the make/model, it may not work with the NComputing device. The only way it will have a chance of working is to make sure the device has a live session, sitting at a logon prompt for the desktop. The L300 by itself won't know what to do with the fingerprint scanner. It needs a session to the host to marry up the driver with the peripheral. Also make sure you have the latest vSpace software as NComputing has implemented a new USB architecture for larger USB peripheral support.
ok that fine.if simple problem. firstly remove ur printer software from ur pc. for it go to control panel and click add/remove icon. then uninstall ur driver software. after that u should install ur printer software. then become ok
Hi!
lets do this step by step.
(1) Go to the control panel and use the ADD/REMOVE program and delete everything relating to your printer? scanner.
(2) Go to the printer icon in the control panel and make sure the printer / scanner is gone..No more printer.
(3) Go the C;/program files and delete all folders pertaining to the printer/Scanner.
(4) Reboot.
(5) Re-install the software. Remember if, when you did the first install, did you have to install the software **PRIOR** to connecting the printer? if so, please do it the way you did it initially!
That should solve it.
A last resort is to do a System restore to a date that it worked. Do you Defragment on a regular basis?
Mastersage.............................
If you have added through the add printer wizard you have added jus the printer software.....try to install through the software cd that came with it....
