I have a Rheem pool heater about 3 yrs old.main board already had to be replaced.now heater comes on for about 1 minute then burners and fan shut off.display reads 5min fan delay.and burners and fan w

The pressure switch is not seeing high enough pressures. Try adjusting it in small increments with a white out mark so you don't loose your position. If that doesn't work temp. Hook the two wires that go to it. If that doesn't start the heater then check the other high limit and low limit sensors. Hope this helps. Be careful when working with Gas.

Water switch open , heater heats up for short period and cuts out

ensure pump is running at full prime. clean the filter out as well. disconnect both connections from pressure switch in raypack heater. check continuity. if switch opens at any point and you have no flow restrictions then replace the pressure switch

My Apollo Rainier hot tub's heater doesn't seem to work - I get a FH message on the display. Please help!!!

HL generally stands for high limit fault which means a sensor is opening the heater circuit due to too high a heat reading. Common causes for such a fault start with poor water flow due to dirty filters which in turn allow the element to overheat. If necessary, replace the filter elements to restore proper flow.If flow issues are not the problem, try looking at the heater itself however you should probably call out a professional at this point as most remaining issues to check are within the controls and the heater and if you are not familiar with working on these components you should avoid trying to repair this yourself.

Pentair Minimax has worked correctly for 5 years. Now is comes on and the heater starts up for maybe 30 seconds and shuts off for a minute or two. It cycles like this for a really long time... a couple...

Usually this means that the flue temperature sensor indicates too high a temperature. this is usually caused by too low water flow through the heater and therefore both the water and the flue temperature is too hot. You should check all the baskets, the pump impeller, the filter and any return devices to make sure water can flow at full rate. It is unlikely but maybe the flue temperature or control board is defective. If all else fails you may be able to call the Pentair technical support line to help diagnose the problem. I hop this helps.

The ac stopped working and the heat stays on even on cool.

sounds like your heater valve is stuck open - if the coolant flows through your heater core, it will heat up the air flowing through and keep the a/c from feeling cool - it is easy to check - clamp a pair of cheap needle nose locking pliers (like vise grips - use needle nose because they are flatter) over one of the heater hoses going into the fire wall to stop the coolant flow - if this improves the a/c performance, then the heater valve is bad - you can get the heater valve replaced or just leave the locking pliers there and save some money - then remove the pliers in the winter so you can use the heater again - hope this helps - have a nice week :O)

ps: adjust the pliers to about 1/4" before you lock them on the hose - that should be enough to close off the hose without damaging the hose - good luck

SHU 53 MODELS To start test program, press and hold both SCRUB WASH and DELICATE/ECONO program buttons, then turn unit on by pressing ON/OFF button. Initially, control module version # will be displayed (e.g./ ?21? = version 1 with jumper). When wash program buttons are released, lights above them will flash. To end test program, press ON/OFF button. To check each program indicator light, press its button. To check Cycle Countdown display, Refill Rinse Agent light and REGULAR WASH light, press REGULAR WASH button (press Delay Start button to test Cycle Countdown display alone). Cycle Countdown display will show ?88″ when REGULAR WASH button is pressed and ?8h? when Delay Start button is pressed. To start testing, press both the SCRUB WASH and DELICATE/ECONO buttons a second time. When testing has ended, Cycle Countdown display will show a fault using codes below. If more than one fault occurs, code numbers will be added together, (e.g./ ?6? = faults 2 + 4). 0 = No faults detected 2 = Heating fault 8 = NTC (temperature sensor) fault 1 = Aqua Sensor (?Sensotronic?) fault 4 = Filling fault F = Filling fault (display occurs during wash, not test) To check for heater, high limit or flow switch problems, start testing until heating starts. Using a meter with a current coil, measure current going into dishwasher. If current is ~ 11 A, then heater, high limit and flow switch are OK. If current stays at ~ 1.5-2 A, then heater, high limit or flow switch are faulty. If water level switch (f1) has failed (opened), display will show fault code ?4″ and unit will continually fill and drain where testing won?t be completed. If flow switch (e5) has failed (opened), display will show ?0″, water won?t heat (to 150?F) and water won?t stop circulating. If NTC probe (f2/f4) has failed (opened), display will show fault code ?8″ immediately and testing will end shortly after water has started circulating.

High pressure, and heater noise

I am not sure if you have solved this issue, or not, but if the PSI on the gauge is high then the problem may not be the heater. When you have the system turned on, and the PSI is reading higher than normal, just the flow of water coming out your return lines. If the flow is normal, like when you clean your filter, then see if you have a way to re-route the water so it bypasses the heater. If the PSI on gauge drops, then the issue is in the heater.

If the flow of water is slower than normal, with the PSI reading high, then you have a blockage somewhere in the system. It could be something simple like removing debris from skimmer and pump backets, to time to backwash, or clean, the filter.

If the flow of water is really hard and fast, with the PSI high as well, then you have too much water going through the system and need to slow it down.

Sounds like low water flow. Is there a manual bypass that may be open? If not, thermal regulator may be bad, or worst case scenario, heat exchanger is blocked due to imbalance of ph/alkalinity in pool water. Good luck.

Pool and spa heater will not turn on, low pressure on display

1) check the fuse on the transformer. You will get "low pressure" if the fuse is blown.
1a) remove front panel with flat head screw driver turning both big screws 1/4 turn clockwise
1b) look up under the 1 remaining front piece for 2 screws (one on each side). remove them and the 1 small panel slides down
1c) transform is directly in the center of this compartment
1d) red wire on transform has a black fuse case - twist open and check fuse (with an ohm meter it should read a dead short if it is working).
1e) if not working - replace with standard 250v 2a bus fuse.
2) it really is low pressure
2a) backwash pool or at least make sure pressure in filter take is not too high (high filter tank pressure == low water pressure in heater)
2b) if you have a bypass valve make sure it is not in bypass mode so most all pressure from the pump is going tothe heater
2c) right next to the transformer is the pressure switch. It has a small copper tube attached to the back and 2 wires in the front. Put an ohm meter across the two leads on this device. With the filter off it should be open, with the filter on it should be closed (short). If not either the copper tubing is clogged, the switch is faulty, or there is not enough water going through the heater. The amount of water that goes into the heater is adjustable and the water pressure switch is also adjustable. The owners manual explains how to adjust both but neither should need adjustment unless you have a special configuration (explained in the manual).
