My acer pc advanced recovery options have stopped working although system restore is working ok.

Hi I have the same problem until i got this info from the safe mode 'fix problem' options
1) Restart your computer using the computer's power button.
2) Do one of the following:
A)If your computer has only one operating system installed, hold down the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, try again.
B) If your computer has more than one operating system installed, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system that you want to start, and then press F8.
3) On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair your computer, and then press Enter.
4) Select a keyboard layout, and then click Next.
5) Select a user name, type the password, and then click OK.
6) The System Recovery Options menu will then appear and then follow the instructions.Hope this helps!

Can't open my laptop

To start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature, follow these steps: 1. Start your computer. 2. When you see the "Please select the operating system to start" message, press the F8 key. 3. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked) , and then press ENTER. 4. If you are running other operating systems on your computer, use the ARROW keys to select Microsoft Windows XP , and then press ENTER.

If Last Known Good Configuration call your computer manufacturer.

Ater replace the mouse, mouse not working

Did you restart or reboot your system? if not restart your system and see whether it's working or not. Most of the time replacing a hardware we need to restart or re-boot the system.
If your mouse doesn't work than use Keyboard. Press Ctrl+Esc simultaneously than use the arrow key up>choose the control panel>press enter>use right arrow key to choose the mouse option there press enter key again after you have selected.>Using Tab key and arrow key for choosing the option for "setting" that you wanted to change. See whether the setting is correct or not. If not set your setting.
All the Best!

My window xp doesn't get restore ?

The System Restore feature will work only if the Windows System Restore feature is enabled.
  1. Restart your computer, and then press and hold F8 during the initial startup to start your computer in safe mode with a Command prompt.
  2. Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode with a Command prompt option.
  3. If you are prompted to select an operating system, use the arrow keys to select the appropriate operating system for your computer, and then press ENTER.
  4. Log on as an administrator or with an account that has administrator credentials.
  5. At the command prompt, type %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and then press ENTER.
  6. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to a functional state.
The System Restore should work from SafeMode

Compaq Preario V5245eu cant get past scrolling xp window just restarts and doesn'r get anywhere have had a c000021a fatal error warning- help please Rodger

If you attempt to install a piece of hardware or software on your PC computer that is incompatible with your system, you may see a blue screen with a C000021a fatal error warning. The easiest way to recover the Windows operating system from this type of error is to restore your computer to a previously working state.
1.Press the "F8" key on your keyboard when prompted during the boot process.

2.Use the up-and-down arrow keys to highlight the "Last Known Good Configuration" option. Then hit "Enter.
3.Use the up-and-down arrow keys to highlight the operating system version that you wish to boot up to, and then hit "Enter" again. The system will now restart to the last working version of your operating system, which will eliminate the C000021a fatal error.
Hope this helps

My computer shuts down acer programs wont run

If your computer has preinstalled recovery options:

1. Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer.
Click the Start button getopencontent.aspx?assetid=4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33&documentset=en-us&renderkey=xml, click the arrow next to the Lock button getopencontent.aspx?assetid=eb058ccf-b21e-4dfe-9bb7-1ad6c83b705c&documentset=en-us&renderkey=xml, and then click Restart.
2. Do one of the following:
• If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you will need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
• If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to repair, and then press and hold F8.
3. On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair your computer, and then press ENTER. (If Repair your computer is not listed as an option, then your computer does not include the System Recovery Options menu as a preinstalled recovery option.)
4. Select a keyboard layout, and then click Next.
5. Select a user name and enter the password, and then click OK.
6. On the System Recovery Options menu, click a tool to open it.
