How can i turn on the keypad light on my gateway laptop

On the lower right of the taskbar, you'll see an icon that looks like the touchpad. If it is not visible on the taskbar, click the "show hidden icons" arrow. Right click the touchpad icon and check "Touch Pad Lighting" to turn them on.

If this icon is not available then you may have uninstalled or disabled the app from running.

My compaq presario wont let me see my tabs, it will not show if i bring thre mouse to the bottome

By tabs, I assume you mean "taskbar". On your keyboard is the windows flag....between Ctrl & Alt. Hitting that should make the taskbar pop up.
You can then change your settings to keep the taskbar always visible.
If you taskbar is not longer on the bottom (on the side), click & drag it to the bottom.

Windows start bar has completely gone

Sympton

You cannot see the taskbar (which contains the "Start" button) anywhere on your desktop.

Causes

  1. The taskbar may be hiding at the bottom of the screen after being accidentally resized.

  2. If the presentation display was changed, the taskbar may have moved off of the visible screen (Windows 7 and Vista only).

  3. The taskbar may be set to "Auto-hide" (Windows XP with Service Pack 2 only).

Solutions

  1. Put the mouse pointer on the bottom border of your screen.

    • If the pointer turns into a double-arrow doublearrow.gif, click and drag upwards.
    • If your taskbar isn't hiding at the bottom of the screen, try moving the mouse to the right, left, and top edges, looking for the double-arrow.

  2. Press the Windows logo key and the P key on your keyboard to bring up the presentation display mode options.

    • Make sure "Computer Only" is selected.
    • Use the arrow keys to toggle between options and Enter to select the correct display mode.

  3. Press the Windows key on the keyboard to bring up the Start Menu

    • Right-Click on the taskbar and select Properties.
    • Toggle the 'Auto-Hide the taskbar' checkbox and click Apply.
    • If it is now checked, move the cursor to the bottom, right, left, or top of the screen and the taskbar should re-appear.
    • Repeat step three to return to your original setting.

How to add a taskbar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Surely you have a taskbar - otherwise, there is no start menu, or any way to get to anything. Is your taskbar not visible? Possibly it is in "hide" mode - you can move the mouse to the bottom and it will pop up. It may have been moved - you can move it to either side or to the top by simply grabbing it withthe mouse and dragging it where you want it. This means, if your taskbar is hiding, you may have to move the mouse to either side, top, or bottom to find it. If there is no taskbar, you will have to hold the shutoff button in until the computer shuts off, then restart it. Usually this will correct the problem. Try these solutions and see if it helps before we do more drastic things.

  • Hi, right click on the "Taskbar," located in the same area as the "Time" and Start button. Select the "Properties Icon" once it open, click on the Notification button, next put a (check mark) in the "Volume box." The Volume Icon will be displayed on the Taskbar. My taskbar is not showing after u start the computer

When you say "after u start the computer" you mean before you log in? The taskbar never shows up until you're logged in, so that's the way it's supposed to work.

If you've logged in and you still can't see the taskbar, it's possible that you've configured the taskbar to "auto-hide." To see if that's what's happening, move the mouse all the way to the bottom of the screen, and the taskbar should pop into view. Unless you've moved the taskbar to the top or side - check by moving the mouse all the way to each edge of the screen until you see the taskbar.

Once you see the taskbar, you can right-click either on the "Start" button or on the clock at the opposite end of the taskbar, and select "Properties" from the menu to turn off auto-hide (if you want to - some people like it once they're used to it). If you want to turn it off, pick the "Taskbar" tab on the Properties dialog, and uncheck the "auto-hide the taskbar" checkbox. Then click OK, and the taskbar should stay visible.

Hope this helps.

My whole taskbar is not visible

If you move the mouse pointer to the very bottom of the screen, the taskbar should pop up as it does when you press the Windows Button, but without Start. If you want to keep it up, right click on the taskbar and select "Properties" In the new window, "Unselect" "Autohide" and the taskbar will stay up.
