Every once in awhile someone on eBay offers part of a system for sale. Set up a search "lg dvt418" and check the 'include description' box and monitor it.

Check to see if there is a drive belt that powers the tray - if so it may be slipping or has fallen off the pulley.

My LG surround sound, model lg dvt418 or possibly lgdvt418, will not power on for some reason. It started off where i would have to press the power button quite a few times for it to power on and the last...

100 times? If it wasn't worn out it surely is closer to becoming so.

If you have the remote, try THAT to see if it makes a difference. I have an old receiver with a flaky power switch an I just use the remote to power it on or off when it gets persnickety.

If it responds momentarily to power activation and turns off maybe it senses a dangerous condition and wants to shut down. Try disconnecting the speakers first and see if that changes anything.

DVD's won't play

I have a somewhat similar problem, but wasn't after a cleaning disk use. Most of the time when I try to use this system now, after I put a DVD in, I start getting a loud buzzing noise (almost as if gears are meshing)

i have the problem resolved got this answer from lg :
We are delighted to hear from you as our Valued Customer. We regret the trouble you have experienced with this product. Check the CENTER SPEAKER for operation. This single speaker carries the vocals for DVD discs, but is not uesd for TV and CD AUDIO. Check the wiring on this speaker to make sure that the contact points on the DVD player are touching the wire, and not the rubber insulation on the wire. If you have other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at 800-243-0000 at your convenience. Speakers popping

Call LG if they are in warranty, should be after 4 months. Try reseating all connections including power, or changing cables. If it shows on all of your speakers, If it doesn't move with one or more speakers, you probably have a leaky capacitor in your reciever and will need to return it for repair or replacement. Hopefully its not just the receiver choosing to spike an amp channel at will. Could possibly be an electrical appliance in your home causing the noise by switching on and/or off. Have somebody walk around your home turning things on and off to see if your receiver is affected. If nothing pops, it very well could be your receiver. An experiment to try is using a different power outlet. Use a long heavy duty extension cord if needed. You want to get power from a different circuit. If that doesn't fix it, try a UPS device (like those used on computers). This will isolate you from the power line, and hopefully from the pops.
