Question about Datel Video Game Consoles & Games

1 Answer

Hi i downloaded the firmware file for my action replay for my nintendo ds. I can get the file to go through the first part of the update onto the action replay but after the loading stage it asks me if i want to write the new firmware to my action replay and i click on the yes and after a few seconds it comes up with a protocol error. There is nothing plugged into my nintendo ds execpt for the action replay, i took out the GBA slot cover because i got told that will work. the current version i have is firmware version 1.60

i have watched the youtube video's on how to fix it and they have told me to remove the GBA slot cover on my ds, i have done that and it still wont work, i have also roamed through many internet pages and forums and they have all told me the same thing to remove the slot cover or i am making to much of a jump from firmware but that is not the case as i have version 1.60 at the moment so im upgrading to the newest version

how do i know which generation of action replay ds i have?
I have done the first part and taken out the GBA slot and that didnt work. Which would be more likely having to change cable and then test the update adn that doesnt work try a new AR?

  1. Remove any game cartridge from the gba slot and also remove the game cart from the Action Replay itself before you connect your ds to your computer to update your firmware.
  2. If you have a generation 1 Action Replay DS cartridge, you cannot update your firmware to 1.71. You will need to purchase a generation 2 Action Replay DS cartridge.
  3. Retry 3-5 times if you keep getting the protocol error.
  4. If it still isn't working, you may need a new cable or a new AR.

    * Action Replay MAX DUO (March 2005) * Action Replay DS (July 2006) [This version of Action Replay firmware support is no longer supported past games requiring version 1.71 for codes to function] * Action Replay DS Media Edition (September 2008) (available only online) * Action Replay DS EZ (February 2009) I would try a different cable, then replace the AR.

Let me know if the different cable gets you past this error. If not, I will look more into this. Thank you for choosing Fixya.com!

When i load Pokemon White in the action replay when i press start game the action replay freezes

Update your Nintendo DS action Replay to this version 1.71 and it will work the website you can get this at is http://uk.codejunkies.com/search/codes_search.aspx and on the right hand side you will find Help Pokemon Black And White, there you should find Action Replay DS Version 1.71 Firmware Update download it as an winrar then extract it to your desktop and drag the file over the bar with your action replay inserted in the code manager. When it has finished writing the firmware it will disconnect you from your computer and messege will come up saying 'Reboot your NDS now! you do that by switiching it off then when you switched it on it should say version 1.71, Insert Pokemon white after taking out the action replay then press start game when it comes up Nintendo That means it is working and there you have it you can play Pokemon White with codes and it doesn't freeze at all, So Enjoy.

There are no games on this action replay but then when i try to download cheats it says failed to write file to action replay (not enought free space) what shout i do

I can help!~ Your problem, probably, is that you were doing something with your Action Replay and then your DS turned off or died. Here is what you do:

(P.S. Your Action Replay and DS CANNOT be plugged into your computer when you do this.)

1) Make sure you DS is off then press and hold A and B.

2) Turn on you DS while still holding A and B.

3) As soon as the Nintendo screen is displayed, but before "This product is not endorsed by Nintendo" message is displayed, press and hold Start and Select while keeping hold of A and B.

4) Continue to hold these buttons until the Main Action Replay screen is displayed, then release. You have reset your Action Replay and will, once again, be able to put cheats on your Action Replay.

I had the same problem and it worked for my DS.

Happy Cheating!~

Action Replay Codes

On the computer plug the action replay in and install the cd that comes with it. To add a new code go to setting and press new, then name the code and copy and paste them code onto it. Put it in your code folder and download the cheats to your action replay.

Can not press next with Action Replay DS v. 1.60

this may or may not work, but you can try re-callibrating your touch screen (orange botton in settings menu with crosshairs) or download new firmware/update action replay from your computer..... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED: IF YOU DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE OR UPDATE YOUR UPDATE ACTION REPLAY, CODES YOU HAVE ENTERED YOURSELF MAY BE DELETED, BE CAREFUL AND MAKE SURE YOU WANT TO RISK IT. (i found out the hard way)

My Action Replay DS Fails to Update

The ARDS is really finicky from what I've seen with it. What I suggest doing is putting in the ARDS and turning on the DS, then plug it in to your PC, when you run the Code Manager on your PC make sure you check for software upgrades. Also make sure that it loads completely on your PC and give it a few to load, on my brother's DS it auto detected that he needed a firmware update and the updates worked fine since (just updated it the day after Christmas).

Not enough free space

1/ With the console powered off, hold A+B.
2/ Power up the console while still holding A+B.
3/ As soon as the Nintendo screen is displayed, before our screen stating this product is not endorsed by Nintendo, press and hold Start and Select while keeping hold of A+B.
4/ Continue to hold these buttons until the Main Action Replay screen is displayed, then release. Your product is reset, and will accept codes once more.
