Question about Gateway CX2619 Notebook

My Gateway laptop model CS2619 gets stuck on the Hardware Profile/Configuration Recovery menu and will not respond to keyboard commands. (yelling at it doesn't seem to work either).

I cant get the program to reset factory settings


When the Dell logo appears, press several times to open the Advanced Boot Options menu.
Use the Arrow keys to select Repair Your Computer and then press Enter.
On the System Recovery Options menu, select a keyboard layout and click Next.
To access the recovery options, log in as an administrator and click OK to open the Dell Factory Image Restore menu.
Depending on your configuration, you may need to select Dell Factory Tools and then Dell Factory Image Restore.
Click Next to open the Confirm Data Deletion menu.
Select the Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition check box and click Next.

You could have provided an operating system ?

Restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen. Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option: Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice. Select safe mode with command prompt then type in chkdsk/f/r which will scan for and and attempt repair of bad files and bad sectors on hard drive You should have no input while chkdsk utility is in progress any input might further damage your computer also Use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to determine which file is causing the issue and then replace the file. Type the following command and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. Can I dl or burn to disc the factory reset for my gateway nv5105u laptop? I have lost that CD


If you have lost the CD you can try to do a factory reset from the recovery partition. Make sure you haven't formatted or deleted any partition in the computer since your purchase.

Using the Recovery Partition to perform Recovery.



First turn off your computer
Turn on the system and keep tapping the F11 key
system will boot into recovery partition. Follow the instructions below:


  1. Boot into Gateway System Recovery - Press F11 to Start Recovery.
  2. On the System Recovery Menu screen, press the ALT+D keys.
  3. At the command prompt, type: D: and then press ENTER.
  4. At the D:\ prompt, type: CD Windows\i386 and then press ENTER.
  5. At the C:\Windows\I386 prompt, type: dir filename.* and then press ENTER.
  6. Verify if the file name has an underscore ( _ ) in the extension. Example: appwiz.cp_. If the file has an underscore, it has to be expanded. If it does not have an underscore, the file can be copied without expansion.
  7. If file has an underscore, expand the file to the destination. At the command prompt, type: Expand filename.**_ C:\Destination. Example: Expand appwiz.cp_ C:\Windows\System32
  8. If file does not have an underscore, copy the file to the destination. At the command prompt, type: Copy filename C:\Destination. Example: Copy atmadm C:\Windows\System32
  9. At the command prompt, type: Exit.
  10. Once back at the menu, click Quit. The computer restarts.
It should be reset to Factory settings.

Toshiba stuck on start-up screen.


The windows files have been corrupted, I was hoping you might get into safe mode to try a system restore but your system will not allow it. If you can find your recovery disc a clean install is the best way to go. Try www.toshiba.com contact customer support about a replacement recovery disc.

You most likely can get a recovery disc from Gateway.

We have a Gateway Laptop running on Vista. Turned it on this morning and got the "blue screen of death" that said it had a Fatal Error KnownDLL 000021a and a bunch of other numbers. We read that...


Just press and hold F8 on startup (before the Windows logo appears). You should get the screen with the title Advanced Boot Options and the following menu. (which I get on my Gateway NV5915h)

Choose Advanced Options for: Vista (Windows 7 on my Gateway NV5915h)
(Use the arrow keys to highlight your choice.)

Repair Your Computer

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Enable Boot Logging
Enable low-resolution video (640x480)

Gateway laptop computer freezes during system recovery


Turn the computer off, then start it back up and press the f2 key repeatedly til a blue screen called the BIOS screen comes up, press the right arrow on your keyboard so it goes to the advanced tab. go down to speedstop and disable it, press f10 to save changes and start computer over. Now it will work no freezing :)

Gateway 7330GZ Not Booting Properly


Probably a virus, or your windows folder got corrupted. Try to use Knoppix (A linux distrobution that boots from a CD) to get all your data onto a pen drive or external hard drive. Download the Knoppix ISO at Knoppix.com and burn it onto a CD or DVD using MagicISO (magiciso.com). Insert the CD, and you should see the boot screen. Open the file manager, and copy all the files you want to keep from your hard drive to a pen drive or external hard drive. Then, reinstall Windows using a recovery CD (one might have come with your computer). Copy the files back, and PRESTO!

Notebook Gateway 7330GZ won't boot


Hm...That sounds like either the motherboard is dying/dead or a device is (such as the hard drive). I would suggest removing one piece at a time and see if you can get past that screen. The most annoying would be if it is the DVD drive since it's probably the most difficult device to remove from the laptop. (If memory serves it involves removing a certain screw from the bottom and then getting under the keyboard so you can push it out).

Do you have a second stick of RAM installed? Mine died a while ago and caused real heck with my 7330GZ.
