Hello!

here's my solution to your problem..

solution (1)

1. click right mouse button on My Computer Icon
2. navigate to Properties
3. click on Hardware Tab
4. click on Device Manager

sound card - 1aaa700.jpg

5. if an exclamation point is present on the highlighted text then your computer have a sound card but the device driver is not installed... if this is the case, then search for the driver.

solution (2)

1. Select Start
2. Click on Control Panel
3. Click on Sound Speech and Audio Devices
4. Click on Adjust the System Volume
5. There should be 2 tick boxes

click on the lower box to display the volume icon in the taskbar..

Note:
this is only applicable if there's a sound card present or the sound card device driver is installed in your system.

If this post does not help please include the Gateway model of your pc... it is much easier to look for a driver if you can provide me with the model...

hope this post can solve your problem... :)

Hello you can download the driver here at gateway:

http://support.gateway.com/product/default.aspx?modelid=2376

First make sure it`s the right model.

But first select your windows system 32 or 64 bit system.

Download the sound driver and unzip the file before you install.

Reboot after the install is done.

Install the other drivers if any missing.

Hope this will help you.

You need to make sure you changed the sound device properly in windows. To do this right click the speaker in the bottom right hand corner of your screen and hit playback devices. Then select the correct device. If you don't know which you can select one and right click and hit "test". Keep trying them until you get sound out of your TV.
If that doesn't work then make sure you have the latest sound drivers. There are two audio drivers on the Gateway website that might work http://global-download.gateway.com/GDFiles/Driver/Audio/Audio_Realtek_5.0.1.5704_Vistax64Vistax86_A.zip?acerid=633675264897204477&Step1=DESKTOP&Step2=LX%20SERIES&Step3=LX6810&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=GATEWAY&SC=PA_6G and http://global-download.gateway.com/GDFiles/Driver/Audio/HDAudio_nVidia_1.00.0.37_Vistax64Vistax86_A.zip?acerid=633675265145088477&Step1=DESKTOP&Step2=LX%20SERIES&Step3=LX6810&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=GATEWAY&SC=PA_6G .Try them both and at least one of them should work. You may need to restart your computer after installing the drivers but after that everything should work fine.

My computer wont play the sound when im trying to listen to music or play a movie.i would like to know how to get the sound back on

Have u recently installed a new DVD Drive?

If so and even if so, you need to have an audio cable installed connecting the DVD drive to the Sound Card in order to get sound when playing a MUSIC CD or DVD player from that drive. So double check that inside of the PC.

Next, go into the Audio Settings in the Control Panel and make sure sound is not muted.

Casette to disc

to convert music from cassett to disk u need to connect the cassett player headphone jack / line out jack to ur PC/laptop mike / line in jack....then play the music and record it in a software(Nero Sound editor etc)
then once that's done save it as mp3 file on to ut PC and trf it to ur cd/disk....u can just copy it as mp3 or create a music cd using Nero...from the mp3 file
the difference is if u just copy the mp3 on to the cd then only a mp3 player/mp3 music system deck can play it... if it's created as a music cd then any cd player can play it....just like any music cd that u buy in the mkt...
a 700 mb disk can hold almost 7 to 10 hrs of music in mp3 format....
but a music disk can hold only 80 mins of music

I get intermittent sound from the right hand speaker on my gateway 400sd4 laptop.

Could be the speaker is on its way out, you could try re-installing the sound drivers by first un-installing them then re-installing them and play some music see if its made any difference if not you may need to take it to a repair shop. hope this helps.

I have a Dell Dimension 9100 and Creative Soundblaster X-Fi OEM soundcard. I have no sound coming from my speakers, only a crackling noise. I have tried all tests available on the PC/control panel. I have...

Ok
Do the following, power up the PC and hit F12
Select DIAGNOSTICS - let em load and run only the sound test. This will make sure the speakers and cable are working. (make sure thewy are plugged into the right hole) then power on the system and hit F2 to enter the BOIS and make sure you disable on the on-board sound card. This is the one that is on the motherboard not the add in card.
Reboot the system and then try your speakers in the SB card and see what happens
Hope this healps you

Sound card?

this could be a result of the software malfunction ...i'm talking about i-tunes,if your computer plays other sounds,it clearly shows that its not a problem with the sound card which is nothing but the hardware for playing sounds in the computer.

for further clarifications revert on this page.

Love the system...

The e-mu sure can do it. You just run whatever output you want into the input on the sound board. The setup is exactly the same as if you just wanted to play winamp music on the system.

It's your computer that can't handle it. Computer only has one sound output, so you can't play two separate things in two separate instances of winamp, because the sound only comes out of one place on your laptop.

You can buy a second external sound card, like the SB Live External USB Sound card, and maybe run both at the same time, having one winamp output to the external device, and the other winamp output to the laptop's internal sound card device, then one line runs to your e-mu system and the other to a pair of headphones.

Or you can bring another laptop in ;)
