Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I have a sony HDR-HC1e camcorder. It works perfectly until I change the battery or switch between mains and battery, it then refuses to start. Not even a hard reset will start it. Leaving it with no power for a hour results in it restarting correctly when battery reinserted although sometimes loses clock setting. I've checked the internal cell and it reads about 3V.

    Hi Shane,
Thanks for your comment. I'm usIng new batteries and have cleaned the contacts but the problem is still there I suspect its a power down reset problem as once you get it going its flawless until you take the battery out. That's why I checked the internal battery but it looks good. I may get put 'scope on the reset , if I can locate it but I guess unless there is something really obvious I'll have to get it to a service center. I just wondered If you guys had heard of this before and I was missing something obvious.
    Thanks,
    Paul

Hi,

First try with new batteries as power received will be less as the batteries gets older and so camcorder might not be working well. Clean the metal contacts of the battery holder properly with dry cloth and then insert the new battery and check you are getting power to the camcorder.
If you still face the problem, then inner conductivity is lost between battery terminals and circuit board.
You need to take to service center to get it repaired.

Hope this helps.

Shane

HDR HC1E sony camcorder rejects every tape Moisture Condensation

hi,
i have a HVR-A1E that uses the same mechanism and it is a real s...t, i used this cam only a few times and had same problem...
i found out on blogs that is a default on those cams... i had to buy another cam to be able to read the recordings i made !
i went to this solution, i bought a FW recorder that records in real time with included battery and hard disk, because the only really sure repair is to change all mechanism (more money than buying another cam !) and must be done by a professional because the mechanism is extremely sensible to mount and adjust !
i tryied many things: let the door open for a long time and then reboot, try to move a little gear that is the responsible of the problem, putting a bit of mechanic oil, and nothing worked !
the problem comes from a little gear that have troubles to move correctly, and this gear is also activating a sensor that says to the main board, that the door is well closed or not...
cheers,
mich

How to undo formatting of harddisk of sony Handycam Camcorder HDR-SR10E

If you once started formatting and change your mind while in process you only have one chance: Switch off your cam! If this doesn´t work, put off the battery. It´s the hard way and you might have damaged the last file but might have rescued the rest.
Best wishes

HELP ME PLEASE

If moisture condensation has occurred, remove the recordable media (tape) and then turn off and leave the media compartment open for the hour the camcorder is turned off . The camcorder can be used again if the warning indicator does not appear when the power is turned on again.

Moisture condensation normally occurs when the camcorder is brought directly from a cold place to a warm place. It can condense inside the camcorder, on the recording media, or the lens and cause a malfunction.
To prevent moisture condensation when you bring your camcorder from a cold place into a warm place, put your camcorder in a plastic bag and seal it tightly. Remove the bag when the air temperature inside the plastic bag has reached the surrounding temperature.

HDR-HC1 power keeps cycling

I had this exact problem, and the cycling would stop after about 30 sec. and then function properly. I believe a circuit was confused, mainly because I used an older battery and let it run out till the batt was dead - accidently - and when I put in a fresh batt, it no longer cycled and works perfectly to this day.

Now if I can get my computer to recognize the camera via firewire, I'd be golden.
