you should be able to use the unit without a problem,in between the panels where the light is theres insulation.you can try northernparts.com they may have a replacement cover for your unit.

Wouldn't expect a fuse to be the problem with those symptoms.
You need to fish out the old bulbs (that is, the last ones you had that worked for any period of time) and read the ratings off them. You are particularly interested in a number followed by a capital V (so this might be 12V, 120V, 230V or any of a number of others). This is the supply voltage they are are compatible with.
You need to be sure you buy replacements which have the same voltage rating. If your replacements are rated for a lower voltage, they will expire in a blaze of glory the instant you apply power. If they're rated for a higher voltage, they'll glow very dim and yellow.
You have a little more leeway withthe wattage rating (a number followed by a W, eg 15W, 25W). It's safe to go lower (though less bright), and probably OK to go a tiny bit higher but if you go much further than the enclosure is designed for, you risk problems with overheating.
If you're certain you have the right bulbs but the problem hasn't gone away, you'll need to come back with more information. It might help to know: Brand & model of the hood in question, what rating (both V and W) the bulbs are, how long they last, what it looks like when they blow (bright white light, or brilliant blue flash), what it says on the rating plate of the hood, and what part of the world you live in (tells us what the power supply is like).
But my first guess would still be that the new bulbs are the wrong type.
