If the magnet isn't close enough it won't know the wheel is turning. You don't needto ride it to see if it works. Just pick the wheel up off the ground and spin it. if it's working you'll see a speed. It's not rocket science but it also isn't magic.

I have a 2012 Vulcan 1700 and just bought some new pipes, Cobra speedsters. What else do I need to do this job because I read about some kind of fuel / o2 sensor needed but not sure about the whole thing....

if the o2 sensor is still in the pipes , it is ok
if not have the adaptor fitted to the pipes and it will be ok
the sensor reports the gas composition to the ECM to adjust the air/fuel mixture
if the new pipes are pollution control compliant the adaptor should be already there
if they are not then you are achieving nothing with the different pipes but are actually decreasing fuel economy

VDO x2dw cycle computer, sensor 2 doesn't work

Is the sensor properly spaced from the magnet on the spoke? Will the sensor pick up slow revolutions but not fast ones. Do you know that some of the sensors have two batteries in them, one on the top and one on the bottom, and both need to be changed at the same time?

Nightrod stops firing a few seconds after starting

Probably fuel system has trash in it, The oil light comes on after engine dies would be right as the ignition is still on and no oil pressure.Fuel stabilizer may have caused trash to break free and stop up the system. Also vacuume to fuel shutoff could be off or stopped up too.

The problem is probably failure of temperature sensor. The computer chip diagnosing your bike has found a problem. Some problems are not critical and the bike will still run okay other problems are fatal problems and the computer will not let the bike start until the problem is fixed. An overheated engine falls into the fatal category. Yes, I know the bike is actually cold, but the sensor is telling the computer differently. Replace the defective sensor and you should be good to go.

no problems all good news so im looking into one but not sure what to get a 250 or 450 ive riden Both in a honda and kawi but none of the KTM's yet.. so yea any ome got any advice..gonna be riden in the winter 2 oncei get some studed tires so yea but yea thanksDefinitely try and ride a couple. I rode the 525SX and a 200SX a couple years ago and they were a blast. They do tend to have that Euro handling which is a little different than the Japanese bikes, but you'll get used to it rather quickly. The 525 I rode was slimmer than my YZ, which made it a little difficult for me to grip, but I think they've changed the geometry of the bikes a little bit over the years, and I hear they've gotten most of the suspension bugs fixed. Definitely try and ride some and see what you think.,,,
