Locate your battery on the motherboard. It should be near the edge closest to the front of your machine. Look along that edge for a two or three contact header (connector with stiff gold plated wires sticking straight up). Near the header you will see in very small white writing "PWR SW". That's it. If it isn't on that edge, continue looking along the edge closest to the bottom of your machine. It i along that edge on some boards.

You must check cable(small) one the (left or right) one hard drive, CD Drive, floppy disk and for motherboard (the big one) .You check the manuals, is not hard just follow where the power lines.

How do Iplug the power switch wires in the corect place on the mother board? for the emachine T2824

Hi.

Did you try to open your CPU casing to find the socket in your motherboard witch is totally fix with the power switch wire. The power switch wire are two forms, there is a 20 pins and 24 pins. If your power switch socket is only a 20 pins, you need to put only the 20 pins.

The 24 pins is not totally combined in power switch wire. If your motherboard power socket contains only 20 pins, so remove the 4 pins in your power switch wires. "Good luck!!"

Hope it may helpful for you!

Hi dallasblue08,

Here's a diagram of what your looking for:

The following eMachine models share the same motherboard (and thus the same front panel layout):

Emachine t2742 I also have a wiring problem!

gtater,
It's ironic that you ask me this question today-- i am just now carrying in another eMachine computer to fix. Anyway, unfortunately I do not have one that is the same model as yours (T2742). However, I did some quick research and found that yours has the same exact motherboard as the T2898 which I made the diagram for!

The following eMachine models share the same motherboard (and thus the same front panel layout):
T2742 T2796 T2798 T2824 T2885 D2823 T2862 T2896 T2898 T2958

For further reference, I would like to share this diagram for the eMachines T6544 in case someone else may need this model. This is the computer I just carried in... might as well share.

By the way, the power switch doesn't need to be oriented any particular way (positive and negative), which is why the switches are not labeled as + or -. Switches can be wired either way and they will work the same.

Hope this helps.

Need wiring diagram for emachines t2200 motherboard

If you are replacing the power supply and it has 4 pin 12v conector and your motherboard doesn't, just disregard the 4 pin plug. The 20 pin conector will supply sufficient power for the processor. Many of the older motherboards did not have a separate 12v supply for the processor.

EMachine no power

Ok for a start the power switch is not green and white that is the power led, you need to look for a red and black wire normally marked on the connector and motherboard as pwrsw or pswitch.
if you believe it to be the switch unplug the connector and jump the connection on the motherboard using the reset switch or a jumper, or not recommended but have done this myself many times using a flat blade screw driver very carefully and touch the 2 pins to complete the circuit.
if it doesnt power on then its more than likely it is the power supply but the motherboard being faulty could also cause this to happen.
the problem i have found with emachines is that its difficult to get replacement power supplys
