Please help me find the BIOSexe file to flash and make my blackscreen problem go away...hopefully

The files listed ARE the BIOS files. They are compressed in ZIP format and must be opened to access the EXE files inside. The 2.11 version is the Legacy or ORIGINAL BIOS that was installed on the laptop. The 2.12 is the updated BIOS. You must clock the download button and open the file downloaded. There is a PDF file inside that details how to perform the flash update.

Blackscreen on start.no display

Try the extension RGB monitor socket on a monitor to see if that works. If it does you might have hit the function key to switch the display to externel. Look in your manual about switching displays this will help you.
It will be something like <function F4 or something similar.

You could have a faulty CCFL lamp that provides the back light.
If you view the LCD screen at a sharp angle and you can see a dim Windows image. Also if you connect an external monitor to the laptops VGA port power up the external monitor then boot up the laptop and you get a normal Windows image on the monitor, then it is a faulty CCFL lamp.
Replacement CCFL lamps are available from this WEB site.

Blackscreen problem when viewing pictures it will show 5 to 10 pictures and then a blackscreen will appear. however, the computer will still be working.

Hi,
If you move backwards in your picture viewing program of choice, (eg Irfanview, ACDSee or the inbuilt windows picture viewing program) does the previous picture work Ok?
If so, it maybe that the picture that is next in order is corrupted. ie it will make the screen go 'black'. if the picture works one time but not another time, its not the picture file at fault.
If you look at the folder with the View options set to Thumbnail, do all the pictures appear OK? ie in miniature?
Does the screen play up when playing a game or doing something else? If so, then the graphics chip on your laptop motherboard maybe on its way out. if you are lucky, that model laptop may have a replaceable graphics card. See the Dell forums for help, or give Dell a ring.
Cheers,
Steve (Melbourne, Australia)

Monitor blackscreen

If you have access to an external monitor then conncet that to the external monitor port. Holding the function key and F7 or F8 should switch the computer to the external monitor. If this is OK then I'd say your mercury lamp has burned out. If no access email back the beep code. You'll have to listen carefully. In either case this computer will need to be repaired by a reputable computer repair person.

Good Luck
