Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Does the wireless netbook (from cvs) need a sd card?

Yes, if you want to move files from the computer physically. It also requires the SD card to update the Windows CE on it, and install Linux if you wish.
Here is a VERY in-depth article on's good reading, especially for a netbook with windows CE

Having problems with the netbook. The wireless connection screen does not appear or the icon in the lower right does not appear

Hello, take a look at this review of the unit as it mentions a misleading 'power on' status for the wireless which may be of help to you.

Kind Regards,

My Sylvania 7" netbook from CVS uses Windows CE.

Google "digital". There find "Sylvania Products". Then click on "7 inch netbook support" and follow directions.
For item # 4, you find your "hot spot" name and click "connect". For item # 5, you may have to call your Internet Service Provider (Charter, AT&T or whoever you pay for your internet in order to get your "network keys" fill that in and then click "OK".

Next be sure you go to "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "Internet Options", "General" and complete "user agent (requires browser restart" by selecting:
"Default (same as windows XP)" or
"Same As Pocket PC" or
"Windows CE".

I selected "default" and was off and running.

Although this isn't a "lap-top" it is a really neat little machine and does a lot of stuff almost like one. It should be great for travel! It is a little slow and has small memory, but it's inexpensive and usb/sd ports are there. A regular universal mouse helps-just plug it into a USB port. I'm doing internet, movies, word processing, etc like everything and I think a lot of people are way under-rating this fun machine! -DKA-

On my Sylvania 7" netbook from CVS (SYNET7WID-R).

Try to open the websites using Firefox. If you are already using firefox, try to reset it to default settings and try to open the websites again. If you don't want to use firefox, try to reset whichever browser you are using to default settings and try again.

You may also try clearing cache.

I bought a 7" Sylvania laptop at CVS. I use Clear

The only way you can connect this Sylvania SNET7526 to the internet is through an existing home network or a open network such as McDonalds, Panera Bread or maybe your local library. There is no way to use a modem as there is no way to add the network drivers to an embedded system. You must stay with what is already installed on your system as it resides in a read only memory chip.

I would advise that you return it as it seems as if you are a determined Lap top wireless modem user, rather than a cable type.

Like everyone else I can not get my Sylvania 7" Netbook connected to my wireless router. It works with my husbands laptop and my grandaughters laptop but not my netbook. I hooked it up direct (wired) and...

digitalgadgets at 888-571-0866 will be your next step. I eventually got a call back 3 days after i contacted them but was unable to connect wirelessly to my home system or free wi-fi,after an hour on the phone. ( on two netbooks from cvs.). I am convinced it is a wireless circuit/card problem, or software problem, or receiver lack of sensitivity. I suspect Sylvania is well aware of this but has no economical solution for replacing defective units so they are blaming their slow response on high order volume. There's more problems but no internet is #1.
