Question about Sony STRDH710

1 Answer

I have a Sony STRDH710 AV Receiver and a Sony SLV-N750 VCR with a JVC DLA-HD250 Projector. No matter which port I plug the VCR into on the AV, I only get sound and no picture. I tested the VCR on my other TV and it works fine. Is it because this AV is digital only and will not accept analog pictures?

It's not ONLY digital.

Does the projector give you On Screen Display from the Sony? Until you get that nothing good is going to happen.

Take-up reel in Sony SLV-N750 doesn't take up.

The idler assembly is not engaging the takeup reel correctly. Examine the gearing between the hubs for debris. There are parts available for this deck, but it is difficult to say whether or not you actually need any. Check for the debris first and let me know what you find.

SLV-N750 compatibility with DTV signal

As long as your cable company converter box is feeding your VCR, you should be ok. The cable box should convert to analog which is what your VCR records.

Remote control code

That doesn't sound quite like the usual procedure for programming a universal feature on a remote. Should have to put the remote in TV mode, then press something to get it into programming mode, then put in the code for your particular TV.

VCR won't take tape

Is it ejecting the tape when you set up for timed record, or any record mode for that matter? If so, check for the presence of the record lockout tab in the tape. If tab is there, machine should accept it. If machine ejects tape with the tab present, then the sensor which detects tab present or absent is probably afoul. this sensor is often a small switch. This tab, by the way, is on the backside of the tape, on the left, looking at the tape from the back.
