The F1 code indicates a failed oven control board. This can be caused by a failed oven control and/or a faulty oven temperature sensor probe. It can be faulty temperature sensor. But if checked out ok then its faulty control board causing code f-1 on Kenmore oven.

The F1 error code normally indicates that you have a failure of the electronic oven control board. You can try unplugging the range for 5 minutes. If the F1 code returns when you plug the range back in, then the electronic oven control board will likely need to be replaced.

A bad oven temperature sensor probe can cause this code on some ranges. If you have a volt/ohm meter, you can unplug the range and check this component. The first link below shows how to access the sensor probe on most Kenmore Elite freestanding ranges.Click this link:---

-------

On some ranges, you will need to access the sensor from the back of the range by removing the back panel. The second link shows this type of range.

The sensor normally has violet wires going to it. If you can access and unplug the sensor, you can measure the resistance through this component with a volt/ohm meter. You should measure near 1100 ohms through the sensor on most Kenmore Elite ranges. If the sensor is bad, it will need to be replaced.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

Oven is slow ot light and has a gas smell when

Hi, this sounds like a weak igniter, it would have to be a gas oven and the symptoms usually are: takes longer than normal to ignite the burner, may or may not smell gas in the oven, if it does light the burner, there may be delayed ignition (pop), does not maintain set temperature or burner does not come on fully, eventually won't heat at all. On gas ovens, a glo igniter is like a light bulb, the more you cook, the faster it wears out. Bottom line, needs to be replaced. Good luck.

My Kenmore gas stove has a light constant smell of gas coming from the oven. The oven also does not heat any longer. Burners work fine. Model 970

There is a problem with the regulator or the thermal bulb you need to call a repairman in to replace it, if you have a gas smell it is allowing the piolet light to have gas comming out and not lighting this is DANGROUS do not put it off get it looked at right away. This can kill you.

My oven isn't warming up

can you verify the ignitor is working (ie: can you hear it sparking)?
1. If no, and you are absolutely sure there is not a buildup of propane inside the oven (or house for that matter), you can try lighting it with a match. If that works, you need to replace/reposition your ignitor.
2. If yes, do you smell propane after trying to light the oven?
A. If yes, STOP and get it fixed..
B. If no,
1. Check to see that your propane tank isn't empty?
2. Verify the regulator supplying the oven with propane is actually sending gas to the over (might need a repairman for this)

Oven does not heat up, can smell gas.

You probably need an oven igniter, it's weak. Remove oven bottom and find caged unit attached to burner. Replace this oven igniter. The 2 wires can go either way.

Kenmore Gas oven is giving F8 error code

Unfortunately the F8 usually means an EEPROM data shift error. Try turning the power on and off several times. If error continues, you have no choice but to replace the ERC. Check on line for the best price. There is a group in the Chicago area that repairs ERCs. Check them out at www.cgiltd.com The failure of the your power system may have been associated with a surge either as the power went off or when it came back on. It may have been the surge that did the damage.
