Antennas

Number one, this isn't a clear question. Number two, you have no choice of antennas with the EOC-3220 unit, only the built-in directional antenna.

Problem using 2nd hand AP senao EOC3220 EXT

You can use this unit either as an access point, to provide wireless access to a network you already have, or as a bridge, to access a remote wireless network someone else has.
Note that you own the EXT model, meaning that you have to attach your own antenna to the connector before it will function. There is no internal antenna on this model.

Configuration instructions are available at
EOC-3220 Series User Manual
Factory reset instructions are available at:

Antenna

First off, the EOC-3220 series comes in two choices: the ones ending in EXT, which require you to add an external antenna, and the ones without, to which there is no place to add an external antenna. So there is no decision to be made in the software configuration, because it's all handled above the software's pay grade.
Other Engenius models with "either/or" antennas come with a physical switch that allows you to choose between the internal antenna and the external jack. So again, there's no software contribution.

Stronger antenna

unscrew the antenna, and buy an rp-tnc connector and an n-male, then get an antenna with female n-type connector. LMR240 coax is better than RG58 for 2.4. which ever you use get the connectors to suit. Then crimp or solder them to your coax and away you go. no need for other settings ... just ssid of access point.

Resetting the engenius eoc 8610ext

I have reset lots of these using the manufacturer's instructions.
Plug in the serial cable before powering on the unit. When you power on the unit, you should be able to see a log of what the unit is doing. If you can't, then your parity, bits, speed, etc. in Hyperterminal are set wrong.
When the unit stops logging (usually with a #), type in
flash reset (and hit the return key)
You should see a bunch more logging, indicating that the unit is shutting down and rebooting. After that, you should be able to log into the unit at 192.168.1.1 with admin/admin or admin/(blank).
