Question about Bose Companion 3 Computer Speakers

1 Answer

My companion 3 system will not amplify. The green light indicator will not switch to orange when I tap it. It appears to be stuck on green but with no amplification. Any ideas?

This device has a short when you tap it the device goes on it is a going bad part in the speakers itself. Take it in an have it checked out. Bose is really good with their customers and doing repairs. That system is to nice not to take it in or send back for repair. It is not like going to Target and getting a cheap speaker setup. So that is my advice I would not attempt a repair on my own on this one. Thanks for using FixYa! John

How do I down load photo's from my Samsung 2 phone please

First make sure you have the correct USB drivers for your phone installed on your pc. Go to device manager and see if your phone or mass storage device is listed. If not, download the drivers here, http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads. Make sure debugging on your phone is enabled. Please refer to the following:

  1. To set the Samsung Galaxy S2 to USB Mass Storage (MSC) mode, go into "Settings > Applications > Development" and enable "USB debugging".

  2. Then drag the status bar down and tap on "USB connected".

  3. The "USB connected" screen with the large green Android icon will appear. Tap on "Connect USB storage".

A confirmation dialog box will appear. Tap "OK". The green Android icon will turn orange, indicating that the phone is now in USB Mass Storage mode and should now appear as USB disk drives in "Devices with Removable Storage" and be assigned drive letters.

Samsung Galaxy S2 (Android 4.0)

My dad cant hook mine up for some reason

Ok

First, Turn your T.V. on and go to the input mode on the t.v.

Second, there should be two cords in the back of your playstation3.
The power cord and the input cord. These are the two basic cords to turn your playstation on.

Once you have them plugged in, on the back of your playstation 3 there should be a power switch right above the power cord. Click it on so that the I is down and the O is up. In the front of your Playstation, a red light will appear indicating that the Playstation is ready to be turned on. Tap the red light until it turns green ( this should only be tapped once) When it is green the system will go to the start-up menu and enjoy your Playstation 3

500.1 amp power lights blinks on and off

Protection mode; follow this link to get a manual for the amplifier: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=439

Below information is from the manual:

Status Indicator Lights / Protection Circuitry
There are three status indicator lights on the top of the amplifier. These are as follows:1) "Power" (Green): lights to indicate that the amplifier is turned on and operating normally.
2) "Thermal" (Red): lights to indicate that the amplifier has exceeded its safe operating temperature, putting the amplifier into a self-protection mode, which reduces the power output of the amplifier. The red light will shut off and the amplifier will return to normal, full-power operating mode if the heat sink temperature drops back to a safe level.
3) "Low ω" (Amber): lights to indicate that the impedance of the speaker load connected to the amplifier is lower than the optimum impedance load range for the amplifier. When this light is on, a protection circuit engages and reduces the power output of the amplifier. The amber indicator will also light when a short-circuit is detected in the speaker wiring (this can be a short between the positive and negative speaker wires or between either speaker wire and the vehicle chassis).
There is only one condition that will shut down an undamaged 500/1v2 completely… If battery voltage drops below 10 volts, the entire amplifier will shut itself off. The green "Power" indicator on the top of the amplifier will turn off when this occurs. The amplifier will turn back on when voltage climbs back above 10 volts. This may happen in a rapid cycle when bass-heavy program material causes a weak charging system to dip below 10 volts momentarily. If this is happening in your system, have your charging system inspected to make sure it is working properly.
For information on troubleshooting this amplifier, refer to Appendix E (page 21).

Bose companion 5 problems

Have had Bose companion 5s for about three years. The external volume deveice in not active. If I unplug it, the sound goes dead. The indicator light is stuck on green and is very dim.. The touch feature does not respond nor does the volume. Sound is set very low an barely audible. Can I get replacement external volume control or is the problem inside the base unit itself? Any help out there with a similar problem.

Thanks JT

Hi,

Would you be aware if there is a pre-installed external amplifier attached to the old head unit?

If yes, the speakers are connected to the amp and not to the new CD player. There should be a pair of shielded wire with RCA male connectors that should go to the head unit and the other ends would be attached to the amplifier. Additionally, there is a trigger wire from the head unit that switches the power of the amplifier to ON aside from the power B+12 and GND.

If no, on the Ford pls verify that:
Green/Yellow - always on B+12VDC (positive battery terminal)
Yellow/Black - switchable +12 (ACC terminal of your IGN switch)
Black/Light Green - chassis ground
Orange/Blue - remote trigger on for power antenna or external amplifier(s)
Light Blue/Red - park light

Speakers
Orange/Light Green LF+
Light Blue/White LF-
White/Light Green RF+
Dark Green/Red RF -

Pink/Light Green LR+
Dark Blue/Orange LR-
Pink/Light Blue RR+
Light Brown/Red RR-
(R-right, L-left, F-front,RR-right rear)

On the head unit, often, the yellow normally goes to the always on B+12 such as the + terminal of the battery, the red to a switched B+ such as the ACC of the IGN switch and of course the black to the chassis/ground.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
