Question about Nakajima AE-830 Typewriter

1 Answer

My tabs/margins are jammed in the middle of the roller and nothing I do seems to release them. I have tried releasing it by pressing and holding down the tabs/margins buttons but without success. All as I can manage to do is block the tabs/margins at any point along the roller but of course this prevents me from using the typewriter. Any suggestions please?

You probably have a margin set there. Go to the stopping point press but don't hold the mar rel key, space to desired location press the R. mar key the L. mar works the same.

Go to NADIST.COM, click on current models, you will find a manual there.

How do i release the tab position?

At each tab stop, press the "tab release" button. Then tab to the next tab position and do the same. OR

You can put the machine in "service mode" which will erase all tab stops and reset your margins to their default positions. Easily done by turning the typewriter OFF. Then while off, press and hold "mar rel" (margin release) key on upper left side of keyboard. While holding it down and keeping it down, turn the typewriter ON. Then take your finger off the Margin Release key. The typewriter will start typing all by itself. Turn the typewriter off, then on. That will reset everything. All tab stops will be erased and margins reset to their defaults.

You probably have the L. margin set there. Return to that point, press but don't hold the MAR REL key, backspace to desired location, press L. MAR key.

3: Hold down the RESUME button
4: Release RESUME after plugging in the AC Power cord.
5: Press the RESUME once within 5 seconds and release the RESUME .
6: Press and HOLD RESUME for two seconds or more and release it.
7: Press and HOLD RESUME for two seconds or more and release it.
8: Unplug AC Power Cord to set data.
Try this I found it doing a search on your machine, that foam was called a blotter, and it should work without it, good luck
