providing its not under guarantee remove mains plug and remove door skin from front of door carefully, as it has to go back on, look for any broken wires just above the door hinge, there will be about 10 or 15 wires, its possible that if you have checked what you said have checked properly that one of these wires has got hot and broken (very common fault of all dishwashers aver 3 year old) replace wire with care etc, work safely,

SOURCE: Kenmore Dishwashing not working properly.

First off check to see if the drain hose is clogged where it meets the sink drain. 9x out of 10 this is the problem. Then remove the grate cover for the drain under the bottom rack at the back of the unit and check for lost utensils, broken glass, food residue, etc... If these are fine, then it sounds like a clog in the drain line at the water pump or a possible problem with the water pump, as long as it IS cycling right and there are no missed steps along the way (i.e. the last drain cycle before the rinse doesn't kick in and therefor uses the wash water as rinse water). The water pump is under the unit, so you will have to pull it out of it's hole. Remove the bottom panel under the door, remove the box cover on either the right or left hand side AFTER YOU FLIP THE BREAKER FOR IT and remove the wirenuts and free the line from the unit, and turn off water valve under the sink and unhook from the solenoid valve under the unit, and finally remove the drain again from the sink. Pull out of hole by finagling and sheer willpower LOL making sure you stop every once in a while to feed the drain hose back through the hole in your cabinet. You will have to split (take apart) the case of the water pump after you remove it from the unit and check the impeller for wear and to make sure it creates a good seal against housing and make sure the diverter engages properly and diverts water to the specified port (wash or drain) in the correct cycle. You may have to use an old extension cord, cut off the receptacle and hook up wires so you can work this outside. Should cure up any problem. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Water won't drain

Hi fixitfran,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: You have pulled the dishwasher out and checked hose. No kink in line. You have taken cleaned out dishwasher and no clog. You poored water into dishwasher and it drains from the bottom not throught drain hose. You have checked the drain hose on the bottom of the dishwasher and to no avail....you don't know what is causing this issue....can I help you out with this? LG-14AW3 Dishwasher does not drain properly and then powers itself off mid cycle. Filters are clean and there are no kinks in the drain hose. How do you fix this and will it be very expensive.

Have you recently replaced the garbage disposal? Sometimes the installer forgets to remove the knockout plug. All of the disposal manufacturers plug the d/w connection in case it is installed where there is no d/w. If there is a d/w, the plug must be removed.

Feel free contact me again!

Error code d02 on samsung dishwasher dmb28afw

d02 Error may have following Causes:
1-drain hose kinked or plugged
2- drain pump failure
3- accumulation of debris in filters and causing the floater positioner got stuck
if there is the flow of water through the drain hose it may that the floater inside the bath got stuck, if this is the case, remove the filters, unfasten the bolts and remove the inside cap until you can see the floater.
clean debris from inside surface of the washing machine and also clean the floater.

Is there a filter in Kenmore Dishwashers that need rinsing or changing? Our dishwasher seems to be backing up, leaving "silt" on the dishes. I empty the screen on the door, but residue has built...

The problem is most likely that there is still water residue at the bottom of your machine. If the machine is not fully drained it picks up some of the residue and sprays that onto the dishes during the final rinse, leaving an unhealthy and unsightly film on everything.
Remove the bottom strainers plates and make sure that the outlet pipe is not kinked, that there is nothing obstructing the pipe or the pump or selector valve. If possible back flush through the outlet pipe and try draining the machine once more before using it again.

Hi there. The first thing to check, now that you have cleaned the filter is to check the disharge hose for kinks or blockages. Also, on some models there is a specific height range at which the hose must be placed (maximum height above washer) and a specific method of running to hose to a drain. Some machine models seem very picky about this so make sure the hose is checked for any blockage and that is is located in a correct manner according to your product manual. Ensure the hose is not be squashed between the back of the machine and a wall or other obstruction. The next possibility is a bad discharge motor.

Water is not getting drained from the botom of the machine

Hi,

There are several possibilities as to why water isn't draining from your washer:

1. Blocked drain filter
The filter is usually at the bottom of the wash compartment. You didn't state which model of dishwasher you have, so please refer to your user manual for instructions for cleaning your filter. If you don't have a manual, please post back here with your dishwasher brand and model number for information on cleaning your filter and where to download a manual if one is available.

2. Blocked/kinked waste hose
Check the waste outflow hose at the back of the washer for any kinks or other damage. Also remove the hose where it attaches to your sink (or waste outlet) and check for any blockages both in the end of the hose and at the sink attachment. If there is a lot of dirt in the hose, it may be blocked somewhere further back.

3. Blocked waste disposal / sink trap / waste outflow
Make sure your sink is draining efficiently. Clean as necessary

4. Faulty waste pump
If all of the above check out, you may have a faulty pump. Please post back for further advice regarding this after completing the above checks.

BElectric

Water is clogged in the bottm of the unit. how do I clear the drain?

Hi,

The drain filter is clearly visible at the bottom of the wash compartment but there are several possibilities as to why there is still water in the bottom of your washer:

1. Blocked drain filter
At the bottom of the wash compartment, there is a fine mesh grille and a plastic cylinder which protrudes from it. Grip the plastic cylinder, twist anti-clockwise and pull it upwards. To clean it, remove any debris from the cylinder, rinse then replace in reverse order of the above.

2. Blocked/kinked waste hose
Check the waste outflow hose at the back of the washer for any kinks or other damage. Also remove the hose where it attaches to your sink (or waste outlet) and check for any blockages.

3. Blocked waste disposal / sink trap / waste outflow
Make sure your sink is draining efficiently. Clean as necessary

4. Faulty waste pump
If all of the above check out, you may have a faulty pump. Please post back for further advice regarding this after completing the above checks.

My machine wont drain or spin. if i maually empty, it will eventually start a wool wash but then says error e20 but filter is clean and no kinks or blockage in drain pipe. should i replace outlet pump?

Do the following.

1. Switch off the machine, unplug or disconnect the mains AC power to the machine and turn off the water supply to the machine.
2. Remove the filter access panel.
3. Remove the filter and make sure that the filter is not blocked and is clean and clear of all debris. Clean as required. Note that depending on the machine type you may get a lot of water coming out of the filter when you remove it if the machine has not drained successfully. Note that if the machine has stopped and not fully drained then you may be able to drain out the excess water by removing or disconnecting the waste hose and laying it on the ground in a tray. It may take a few minutes to empty but it will save a small flood.
4. Proceed by checking the drain hose for proper connection and kinks and make sure that it is not blocked.
5. Also check that the main waste drain pipe, if you use one, is not blocked and clean if required.
6. Reconnect the power and switch the machine on.
If the problem persists then do the following.

7. Switch off the machine and disconnect the mains power.
8. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure it is operational.
9. Remove the connecting hoses, and expect water to drain out and make sure the pipes are not blocked with debris or any object blockage.
10. Makes sure the pump appears clear and that the impeller looks in good condition.
11. Reconnect the hoses and then reconnect power and switch the machine on.
12. If problem has not been corrected, then remove the pump and check that the drive coupling to the motor is OK and that the motor turns OK. If all is well then replace the pump.

Water won't go out of the dishwasher

Begin at your sink drain that the dishwasher drain hose connects to. Disconnect the hose and check both directions for anything plugging the connection.
Make sure the drain hose has not become "kinked"
(After you have emptied the water from the dishwasher) remove the lower spray arm and the filter in the sump area. Look for obstructions and remove all debris. Rinse the filter thoroughly and reassemble.
If you dishwasher has a timer on the front of the dishwasher that you can manually turn, start a quick cycle with no DW soap and empty.
Allow the water to run in for several seconds and then manually (slowly, gently) turn the timer knob until the DW should begin draining the DW. Listen closely for the sound of the pump motor running. Is water properly draining out of the dishwasher into the drain?
After you have done these things, please post back here and we can take the next steps. OK?

Hotpoint dishwasher not emptying

Possibly a kink in the pump out hose.  That was my problem, thought it was pump, and the kink was the first thing the repair man looked for and found.  Part available in any hardward 10' dishwasher hose.
