It's almost simular. First of all you have to remove two little screws at the back of the hinges.

Remove keyboard 646125-001

  1. Prior to replacing your replacement keyboard for sony vaio vgn-fe880e/h, make sure to remove the keyboard and disconnect the ac adapter from your laptop.
  2. The first step to replacing your laptop keyboard is to remove the screws from the back of your vaio vgn-fe880e/h. Sometimes your laptop will have a picture of a keyboard next to the screws that need to be removed. Otherwise, see your laptop manual for details.
  3. Above the laptop keyboard for sony vaio vgn-fe880e/h, you have a cover panel. If required, remove this part to easily access your keyboard. If you have screws above your keyboard, remove those screws.
  4. Now that you have removed all the screws, you are ready to remove and then replace your new laptop keyboard.
  5. To remove the vaio vgn-fe880e/h Keyboard, take a thin object and pry the keyboard out between the keyboard and motherboard. Be careful when removing the keyboard.
  6. Now that your keyboard is loose, simply disconnect your keyboard. In order to disconnect the keyboard, pay attention to the keyboard connector and connector cable. Unlock the connector cable device and remove your laptop keyboard. Your sony vaio vgn-fe880e/h connector cable should be easy to remove by simply sliding it out.
  7. Now that your keyboard has been removed, get ready to install your new laptop keyboard. Look at the back of the keyboard. If you see any screw holes, you will have a good idea of where to place the screws back in at the bottom of the laptop.
  8. Connect your laptop keyboard for sony vaio vgn-fe880e/h to the motherboard keyboard connection slot. Secure the keyboard cable. Now turn your keyboard in place, and align the grooves on the bottom of your keyboard with your palmrest or plastic bezel. Secure your laptop keyboard in place, make sure it fits properly and is snug. Now simply place the screws back in place.

How to hook a keyboard

What type of keyboard are you talking about? Are you talking about replacing the current keyboard with another one in it's place? Or are you talking about just plugging a usb keyboard into one of the USB Ports on the laptop?

You can just place a big desktop type usb keyboard into one of the laptop's usb port and it will work.

If you want to replace the existing laptop keyboard with another laptop keyboard you will have to take some parts off. Remove the power cord, remove the battery, turn the laptop over and start removing screws from the battery case and from the bottom of the laptop. Pay close attention to screws that might have the icon of a keyboard on them (they hold the keyboard in place). You might not have to remove the memory, hardrive or dvd drive to get the keyboard out. Turn the laptop back over and open the lid. Remove the strip that is above the keyboard carefully because there might be a cable under it. Remove any screws that the strip had under it that holds the keyboard. The keyboard might have little catches on the side that helps keep it in place so work with one side to free the keyboard. Once you have one side the other side will simply lift off. Be careful because the keyboard has a cable under it that is attached to the board that you will remove from the board.

How do you remove keyboard

Remove a laptop computer keyboard by locating the keyboard screws marked by an icon, unscrewing the screws with a small screwdriver and gently pulling up on the keyboard. Remember that the ribbon will still be attached between the keyboard and the motherboard with insight from a computer specialist in this free video on laptop computers.

Replace keyboard Sony

Hi..

I will provide you a solution this solution are very useful with you. You can do it with your self to follow this instructions. There are some image on how to replace the keyboard.

These instructions will help you to remove and replace keyboards on various laptops. I will not be able to cover all models but you’ll get the idea. Steps for removing and replacing the keyboard are similar for most laptops.
Warning!
- if your laptop is still covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, do not open the case or you can loose the warranty
- always remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter before you open the laptop case
- if you damage the keyboard connector on the motherboard you’ll have to replace the whole motherboard
- proceed on your own risk
Sony laptop
I took these pictures from a Sony Vaio PCG-K33 (model PCG-9S1L) notebook. Should be similar for some other Sony notebooks too.
sony-keyboard-1.jpg Insert a small flathead screwdriver under the keyboard bezel and carefully lift it up. Continue releasing plastic latches and removing the keyboard bezel with your fingers.
sony-keyboard-2.jpg
Be careful, on some models the bezel might be connected to the motherboard as it shown on the picture above. If you accidentally pulled the cable, connect it back. It is not necessary to disconnect the keyboard bezel from the motherboard in order to remove and replace the keyboard, just put it aside so you can access the keyboard screws.
sony-keyboard-3.jpg Remove three (or more) screws from the top of the keyboard. Carefully lift up the keyboard from the laptop case.
sony-keyboard-4.jpg The keyboard connects to the motherboard via a flat ribbon cable. Before you pull the cable from the connector, you’ll have to unlock the connector.
sony-keyboard-5.jpg The image above illustrates how to unlock the keyboard connector. Carefully move the connector lock 2-3 millimeters up and after that pull the keyboard cable. To install the keyboard, follow the above mentioned steps in the reverse order.
Toshiba laptop
The following pictures were taken from a Toshiba Satellite A135 laptop. The keyboard removal instructions will be almost the same for most modern Toshiba laptops.
toshiba-keyboard-1.jpg The keyboard bezel removal procedure is similar to the above mentioned Sony Vaio laptop. Lift it up with a small screwdriver and remove using fingers. On most Toshiba laptops the keyboard bezel doesn’t have any circuit board underneath, it’s just a piece of plastic and you don’t have to worry about cables.
toshiba-keyboard-2.jpg After the bezel is removed you get an access to the keyboard screws. Remove two (or more) screws. Release the plastic latch pointed with the red arrow and lift up the keyboard. Carefully put the keyboard aside so you can access the connector underneath the keyboard. Do not forget that the keyboard is still connected to the motherboard.
toshiba-keyboard-3.jpg Before you remove the keyboard, you’ll have to open the connector and release the flat ribbon cable.
toshiba-keyboard-4.jpg Here’s a closeup picture of the keyboard connector on the motherboard. Be careful, this type of connector is fragile. On the left image the connector is closed. On the right image the connector is opened. Unlock the connector by moving the lock up as it shown on the right image and after that release the ribbon cable. Remove and replace the keyboard. For assembly instructions follow all the steps in the reverse order.

Hope it is helpful for you!

Thanks for using Fixya

Replace keyboard

Laptops have screws that secure the keyboard, they are located on the bottom of the laptop directly under the keyboard. There maybe up to 4 screws holding the keyboard in place, remove these screws. The keyboard should be able to be lifted off to reveal connecting cables. There will be one or two ribbon cables that connect the keyboard to the motherboard, carefully detach these cables before you completely remove the keyboard.
