Zen V Plus Drive not recognized and won't charge

I've tried rebooting. I've tried plugging the USB into the back of the computer. I've tried reformatting (erasing everything) on the Zen and then rebooting. Nothing works. It seems like sometimes if I leave it plugged in long enough it will begin charging but I can't get the computer to recognize it as a drive. I've about had it with this Zen. I bought a cheap MP3 player for myself and have had no problems. This Zen cost more and has been nothing but a problem.

Hi, I'm sorry but there is no other way to say this; creative makes crappy mp3 players.

A basic requirement should be recognition and charging via usb period. No funny drivers, no bs.

This is not the case with creative.

I hate to say it, but this is why everyone buys ipods. They just work.

Try going to the control panel - hardware and delete
the Zen [ make sure your Zen is unpluged ] once delete
plug your Zen back in and see if this does the trick

Zen V Plus not charging and not recognized by windows

Turn off CPU, Unplug Power cable, And all usb devices, let it sit for about 20mins. Plug it all back in. Turn on the CPU! Also make sure if your device requires "DRIVERS" or if you have a CD download and install that before anything.

Firmware problem for zen vision M

I had the same issue with my zen vision m. It was not recognized on any computer (although it would charge) and I noticed that when I turned it on after having it off for any amount of time, the zen would rebuild half way before turning on.
If this is what is happening with you, then this one solution I found to fix it:
Download the MP3 Recovery Tool from Creative Support website. Make sure that your Zen is charged at least half.   Turn on your Zen, Holding the power switch in the on position (Very Important!). While holding the Power switch on, Reset the Zen by inserting a small object in the Reset hole on the bottom of the Zen (small objects can include thumbtack, wire, earring, etc...). You will see a menu: Clean Up, Format, Reload OS/Firmware, Reboot. (It is now safe to stop holding the Power switch) I decided to go down the list until something worked.  I ran Clean Up first and that didn't work for me, so I tried Format.  It will remove all of your data. Once Format runs, Reboot the MP3 player and plug it up to the computer. Run MP3 Recovery Tool. The firmware should should install itself on your MP3. Once installed, your computer should recognize the Zen.
I hope this helps!

Computer doesn't recognize device is plugged in.

Hi,
try aa different USB Port if your computer Has One.
Turn the power On The MPEG Player on and off when it,s Connected.
If this does,nt help.
Replace your USB lead, it is possibly broken internally, or player fault.

Zen v plus

Try a different USB cord if you have one and plug it in to a desktop computer (not a laptop). Leave it plugged in for a while and the battery might be charged enough to display the screen (happened to me on my zen vision M and this fixed it)
