I'm assuming that you are showing a BIOS screen as it begins to boot up but the Windows is not opening up for you. Lets try a hard boot first. Unplug the computer from the power source once unplugged go to the power button and press it you should see a little flash if not do not worry it did its duty. Plug the computer back in and restart it again. It should boot up now and go to your Windows on the screen.
If this does not happen you may have to do a complete factory install. You can also do a restore computer to an earlier time or by pressing F8 on the boot you can go to safe mode and do a recover from an earlier time most folks do not have this set up hopefully you do. It is important to setup a restore point. In case something like this happens again for you. More than likely you will have to do a complete re-install from the disks given to you for recovery hopefully you have there available as well as your personal files saved off the hard drive. If not all those will be lost forever. I hope that this gives you some idea of what you are up against. It is relatively simple process just read the instructions during the install of your software back into your drive. Do not foret to vote for me. John

I have a acer extensa 5235, running windows 7 pro.the problem started when i was playing an game of golf on it. a box come up and it said the next course could not be found. then the screen went black...

Your computer's operating system just crashes down. What you can do is to do a start up repair. You need the operating system discs which came with your computer during the time when you bought it. It says windows 7 installation/operating system.

Here's what you need to do.

1. Insert the windows 7 operating system disc in the dvd drive.
2. Restart the computer. It will bring you to a page which will ask you to press any key. Just press any key to boot to the installation cd.
3. A blue screen will appear and it will bring you to the page which has the option to install or to repair. Select repair.
4. Then follow the on-screen instructions and finish the process until it restarts.
5. If it does not fix the problem, you have to do a complete/clean reinstallation.

I am providing you a full tutorial on how to do it. Click on the link below so that you will be directed to the link.

While trying to fix a friend's acer aspire one, i ran a defrag check. after rebooting once the check was complete, the computer will not boot up and sits on a black screen. all F8 screen options freeze...

The windows has to be reinstalled ( Formatting the Hard Disk with DATA LOSS ) Select models have the ability to have the operating system reinstalled from a hidden drive built into the computer.
To start the system recovery:
  1. Restart the netbook.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery program has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
  5. Select ' completely restore to factory defaults
If this is not working, then get the Factory Recovery CD's to reinstall windows.

Hi I bought a Toshiba Satellite M300 PSMD4L-01W004 in 2008 but only started using it regularly in 2009. The screen turns black like the light goes out when I open the display at more than a right angle...

the connector is the most obvious place to start,During the 90's this really was the achillies heel for most laptop manufacturer, this was probably in the top 5 complaint at repair shacks.
technology has made things somewhat better but some models still have faults in this area, that and the fact when dropped this the hinge area come under considerable stress/fractures

Windows will not start

This could be a problem with corrupted operating system files, I request you to format you hard drive completely then reinstall the operating system you want. If you could format the complete hard drive then there is no problem with the hard drive.

This should fix the issue.

Gateway Laptop

This is either an operating system failure or hard drive failure. Start by reloading a fresh operating system (Vista) with your recovery or operating system disc. If you have any problems during or after the install, then it's the hard drive and will need to be replaced.
