If your BlackBerry Bold 9000 series device is frozen, rebooting or not responding, you will probably want to reset the unit. Here are the different types of resets that can be performed in the order they should be tried.

Remember your data will we wiped. So make a backup.

Soft Reset
Press ALT + RIGHT SHIFT(CAP) + DELETE.

Double-Soft Reset
Press ALT + RIGHT SHIFT(CAP) + DELETE . The screen will go blank for a few seconds. When the screen comes back on, immediately press ALT + RIGHT SHIFT(CAP) + DELETE again.

Hard Reset
If none of the above works, pull the battery out of the unit for a few seconds, then reinsert it.

What do i need to do if my blackberry curve displays a message saying reload software:552?

Hi,

I have had the "Reload Software: 552" error on 2 BlackBerry Curve 8900s. When it occurred again (last night) this is what I did:

[ WARNING! THIS WORKED FOR ME, BUT I WAS LUCKY & IT MIGHT NOT WORK FOR YOU! ]

1. Reboot your BB: alt-rightShift-del

2. Start a software reload from the Windows desktop, via the BB Desktop Manager.

When the reload started, I would get a screen on my BB showing 2 computers talking to each other. After a few seconds, this would crash into the 552 error.

3. 3-5 seconds into the software reload, CANCEL the desktop.

4. This should freeze the apps on both the desktop and the BB. The BB should still be showing the 2-computers.

If you do anything on the desktop at this point, the BB will crash into the 552 error again.

5. Terminate the desktop app processes via the Windows task manager. There are 4 RIM/BB processes to shut down.

6. At this point, the BB Desktop Manager app should be gone, and the BB should still show the 2-computers.

7. Now, start the BB desktop manager back up again, and intitiate the software reload again ...

A 4thumbs up will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for choosing FixYa!

My blackberry 9530 smartphone froze and reads "App error 523 reset

The issue you describe appears to be corruption of one or more system files within the BlackBerry OS. A forced update should restore your BB to working condition, but there is the risk that you may lose your data. If that is a problem, do not proceed.
If you wish to restore the BB, please continue below after verifying that you have the following:
A. Computer (Windows) B. BlackBerryDesktop Managersoftware (BlackBerry.com) C. Latest version of the BlackBerry OS for your make/model BB

To get the OS, simply logon to your carriers website and download the latest version of the OS for your BB. Once the file is saved to your computer, you need to install the setup files just like you would anyother program. When completed, proceed to step #1.
1. Open BB Desktop Manager 2. Remove the battery cover, battery and microSD card (if you have one) from your BlackBerry. 3. Connect the BB to your computer via USB cable (without the battery in place, just the phone's shell). 4. There should be a few drivers that will load automatically and the BB Desktop Manager will recognize your BB. 5. Close the BB Desktop Manager once it has been detected. 6. Go to the following path. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader 7. Double-click the "AppLoader.exe" application 8. Once it loads, the application will detect your BB and proceed to update your BlackBerry's OS. 9. If you are prompted to backup your BB data, please do so. If not, then proceed to step #10. 10. Select wipe (or secure wipe) to completely remove the existing OS and data.
A fresh, updated version of the BlackBerry OS will be installed on your BB. The process takes about 35-90 mins to complete. Once done, the BB will automatically reboot and if you had an existing backup or created one before wiping/installing, you can now reopen the BB Desktop Manager and restore your backup to the BB.

Random rebotoing - white screen with clock

The BB Storm is plauged with these problems unfortunately due to insufficient hardware & buggy software.

There is hope however - you can try update your software. You can find it here

Battery Icon with red line through it? Durring a back up, my Storm turned off and when I turned it back on this battery icon is all I get. I have a fully charged new battery in it now and it still shows...

This usually means the bb and battery got a little wet or has other issues. Try these solutions in order. They go from easisest to hardest. NOTE: If you have an insurance policy on the bb probably best just to take it in.

1. Remove the back cover. Remove the battery and the SIM card. Wait 30 seconds. Replace SIM, battery and back cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.

2. If that doesn't work, allow the bb to remain unplugged but ON for about 24 hours to drain the battery. Remove back cover and battery. Allow battery and opened bb to sit in a dry environment for 24 - 36 hours. Relace battery and cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.

3. If that fails retry step 2 but allow battery to FULLY drain then dry out again.

4. Take in.

3. If that fails, try another battery (a friends or one from your cellstore) to see if tat's the problem. If so, (a) retry step 2 but allow battery to FULLY drain then dry out again, (b) buy a new battery for $60 retail or (c) buy a new battery on ebay for a lot less.

4. Take in.
