I don't know which model you have so I will give the generic answer here.
Open the panels on the bottom of the unit.
If you see a hard disk, that's not it.
If you see RAM, and nothing but RAM, that's not it.
If you see a card with a couple cables plugging into it, that's probably the one.
One cable will run to the ethernet port on the back
the other is for the antennas! - that's the one we want.

Disconnect the power, and remove the battery.

there are 2 tabs, on on each side of the network module - pushing them to the sides should let the module pop up a bit. This makes the cables easier to disconnect.
Since the ethernet port isn't the issue, leave the wider connector in place.
remove the smaller connector, then snap it back in place.
Pull the adapter (thing that looks like a RAM module) gently and just slightly out of the socket, then firmly push it back in and snap it down.
Close up the panel and reinstall the battery and plug the unit back in.
See if you can see any networks now.
If you can, Voila, problem solved!

The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router.

How do I change the password on the kindle for the wireless network?

To add a new Wi-Fi Network:

If you don't see the network you want to connect to in the list of detected networks, you can add it by choosing "Enter other Wi-Fi network" at the bottom of the list of detected networks.
  1. Make sure you are within range of the network you want to add, and that you know the network name and password (if required).
  2. Press the Home button, then press the Menu button.
  3. Navigate to "Settings" by moving the 5-way controller down, then press the 5-way controller to select.
  4. Select "view" next to "Wi-Fi Settings" to display a list of detected Wi-Fi networks.
  5. Use the 5-way controller to navigate down to "Enter other Wi-Fi network" and press to select.
  6. Enter the name of the Wi-Fi network that you want to add.
  7. Enter the password (if required). Press the Symbol key to enter numbers or characters not present on the Kindle keyboard. You can continue to use the keyboard while the Symbol menu is displayed.
  8. Choose "submit." Kindle connects to the new Wi-Fi network.
If your Kindle fails to connect to the new Wi-Fi network, it will display an "unable to connect" message. You can try manually entering all the network information for the Wi-Fi network by choosing "set up network" when you see the "unable to connect" message. If you don't know the network information, try connecting to a different network, or contact the network's administrator.

To forget a Wi-Fi network:

You can tell Kindle to forget the Wi-Fi network you're connected to so that your Kindle doesn't connect to it automatically in the future.
  1. While connected to the network that you want to forget, press the Home button, then press the Menu button.
  2. Navigate to "Settings" by moving the 5-way controller down, then press the 5-way controller to select.
  3. Select "view" next to "Wi-Fi Settings" to display a list of detected Wi-Fi networks. You may have to wait a moment as your Kindle detects networks in range. The Wi-Fi network you are currently connected to displays the word "forget" next to it in the list of available networks.
  4. Choose "forget" to disconnect from the network.

To connect to a Wi-Fi network:

  1. Press the Home button, then press the Menu button.
  2. Navigate to "Settings" by moving the 5-way controller down, then press the 5-way controller to select.
  3. Select "view" next to "Wi-Fi Settings" to display a list of detected Wi-Fi networks. You may have to wait a moment as your Kindle detects networks in range. Kindle automatically scans for available Wi-Fi networks at periodic intervals. To rescan for available networks at any time, select "rescan."
  4. Select "connect" to connect to a network. If you see a lock symbol next to "connect," the network requires a password to connect.
  5. If necessary, enter the Wi-Fi network password, and choose "submit." Press the Symbol key to enter numbers or characters not present on the Kindle keyboard.
Once you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, Kindle automatically connects to it again whenever that network is in range. If more than one previously used network is in range, your Kindle automatically connects to the network that was most recently used.

Tip: Once your Kindle connects to a Wi-Fi network, that network displays "forget" next to it in the list of available networks. Selecting "forget" disconnects your Kindle from that Wi-Fi network and also prevents Kindle from automatically connecting to it in the future.

All netbooks have both the wired and wireless networking capability built-in. The Acer Aspire One AOA 150 Model No. ZG5 (8.9" screen) netbook has a RJ-45 jack on its left side for wired 10/100 Ethernet. On right-most part of its front is a slide switch to toggle enabling/disabling of the built-in 802.11b/g WLAN for wireless connectivity to WiFi. Click on the following link for a detailed description... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspire_one
Pushing the wireless slide switch to the right momentarily will cause either Wireless LAN Enabled or Wireless LAN Disabled in large green letters to appear momentarily at the bottom middle of the screen. Once enabled, look at the Taskbar at the bottom right of the desktop and click on the little terminal icon with ))) and a little red x beside it. This opens the Wireless Network Connection window and you would then do the following...
1. in Network Task sidebar click on the Refresh network list to update the wireless networks
2. in Choose a wireless network on the right side, click on an item in the list to select & hi-light it
3. click on the Connect button to get a pop-up window for Network key & Confirm network key
4. if unsecured network, the pop-up reminds you of the risks but you can Connect Anyway
5. in the pop-ups, you can click to either Connect (for secured), Connect Anyway, or Cancel
6. when connecting, another pop-up window appears with Waiting for the network
7. once connected, the selected network will move to the top of the network list
8. in the desktop's Taskbar, the little terminal icon with ))) will no longer have the little red x
9. right click on the icon to get a pop-up for the status and wireless connection management

Experiencing error when connecting to wireless router

I've had this happen before when using a USB wireless device. Is the wireless on your system built in? Or do you connect it to a USB port? The external devices sometimes try to use their own software to configure wireless so you can shut it off and just use the Windows wireless tool. I assume you setup the wireless with a security key and entered that key into your system to try and connect? Let me know if any of that helps and rate the solution if it does!

Wireless network not detected despite all elements seems working

Hello there.

This is a common problem. What i typically do on notebooks that use Intel Wireless, is install the latest drivers and Intel software from their website. 9 times out of 10 this will make it pick up a network that was not previously found, or fix problems with timeouts and so on.

Please click here then choose your version of windows, click 'Go!' and then click "Download" beside the section called "Intel® PROSet/Wireless Network Connection Software for Windows* XP/2000 32-Bit"

When you download and run this file, and install the software, you can then use the Intel utility to connect to the wireless network.

Hope this helps.
