I am trying to scan a picture on to my computer, but everytime I press Scan to Computer: USB, it keeps saying downloading scan application list from my computer. Then it says Downlaod failed. How can I get it to scan again?

Hi ginuzoe,

Apparently your scanner isn't being propperly recognized by your PC. To fix this issue install the latest version of the driver of your scanner. This can be done by using the set-up disc that came with the scanner or by looking for the drivers online at the official page of the brand.

When i scan to computer it cannot download the application


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

I cant get my 4650 to scan it keeps saying downloading application list but it never does anything


If you are scanning documents to edit or save as PDF file, you will need to install the OCR scan software on your computer. The Lexmark OCR scan software is available only on the installation disc that came with your printer. If you lost the disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center to request for one.
If scanning from your printer to your computer was working previously, then it could be just a slight communication problem. A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected) > reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. You can go to lexmark.com and download the software package for your machine. It won't scan unless it's connected to your computer and the scan software is running, some Lexmarks won't even copy without the software running in your computer.

May have encountered spyware


Download a program called MalwareBytes from www.downloads.com . You will need to download to another computer and copy the file to a USB or CD to put on your infected computer. Boot the infected computer into safe mode (press F8 repeatedly during the initial boot sequence of the computer). Select Safe Mode with Networking. Once in safe mode, install the MalwareBytes program and run a full scan. Have it remove all infected files. Reboot the computer normally, run a full scan again and then run a full virus scan. Let me know your results.

I have a LEXMARK X5650 that will not SCAN to the computer... When I press SCAN it does nothing. So I press the ON and START buttons... The display will then say "Scan to Computer" - If you click "OK", then...


When using Adobe Photoshop, select File, then Import, and then the Lexmark device. That's the only way I have found, however you should be able to scan through many programs.

Uninstall driver,,,,restart computer..reinstall driver...if its a vista operating system..try the downloaded drivers from www.lexmark.com.
