Question about Coby MP315 (2 GB) MP3 Player

1 Answer

Dear Sirs, I would be very much appreciated if you could help me solve the problem with your product, COBY MP315-2G player. The point is that your official web-site I turned to was of no help for me, so I would be thankful for your kind attention. I have just bought the player mentioned above, and before using the player for the first time formatted the memory card. After that procedure I transferred music files to the player, but it shows no files at all. It only shows the changes in memory status, but the Folder menu is disabled - I cannot enter it or play the music files transferred. The display shows "No music files". I believe there's some errors in firmware operation, and tried to look for a new updates on your site. However, I was unable to find it, and dare hope you can help me with it. I would be very much appreciated if you advise me on where I can find a reliable firmware update for my COBY MP315-2G player or send it to my address directly. I thank you for your attention and hope to hear from you soon.

Please make sure that the files loaded are the types for MP3 and WMA so as to be recognised in the Coby player.
I suspect the fiiles loaded from your PC does not support the type needed by the player. So reconvert and download.
check the link for free downloads/support.

I can't hear music from my coby mp3 player even when I have

I had this problem and gave a detail on how to solve in one of the solve pages on the site you posted but I'll write it to you and hope you get this.

The problem is two fold.
1. the player doesn't actually recognize mp3 files. Mine did at first the it didn't. I solved this sort of. Since the player will recognize wma format if you use the media player converter to change the song format to wma and sync them it will play them. If you load a song that is incorrrect it will cause the light to go solid an not play. If you get to the point where the light goes out and the song play will not advance past a certain point it is a format issue. Note not all songs will convert properly and the media player will warn you about converting. save the files as <same name .wma> in a different file your originals will remain untouched.
2. License. If the songs you are trying to load do not have the license the player will not play it no matter the format and it is the one problem that usually shuts the mp3 player off. I have used this to solve several units and the problem is the Coby players have poor programing and it is easily disrupted. Never plug your player into a PC while it is on. The best way is to remove the battery first.
I'd be interested if this solves your problem email me either way, so I can eliminate what units it works for and not. My one is a MPC883. It took hours to figure out but these steps do work and tell Tech the problem is programming and hardware.

For your music, go in MTPMEDIA\Music folder then, create an another one and drag all your files in. Go in the new folder arranger your files alphabetically and drag them back to the music folder. Delete the new folder you created before and the next time you will look at your songs from your player, they will be in alphabetical order.
