Kenmore dehumidifier 25358400890 sometimes works, but sometimes won't run. Light comes on when bucket is removed, so it's getting power. Any clue why?

Assuming you've turned the humistat all the way to the maximum dry setting, it's possible it's not humid enough for it to run but fairly unlikely. The humistat may need to be cleaned or replaced or the compressor may be low on freon. If it works in hotter temperatures this may indicate low freon. Freon pressure increases with temperature therefore if it's hot, the pressure inside may increase enough to satisfy the low pressure switch.

The compressor clicks on for a few seconds, then clicks off. Is this a problem with the compressor, or could it be the relay

This could cover a lot of territory...low freon, compressor running hot, bad start components/capacitor.

The general result is that to repair a unit like this costs nearly that of a new one if not more. These are sealed units, thus if low on charge it requires addition of service port and freon....and hopefully find the leak. If not freon related, it still requires some tight troubleshooting.

These are difficult to work on due to how they are setup and assembled

Coils icing

the unit either has dirty evaporator coils and this will make them ice up,or the unit is low on refrigerant/freon,try cleaning the whole unit of dirt and dust first, then you may need to install a saddle tap on the sealed system and add some refrigerant/freon as these systems seem to leak more often than other sealed systems

first clean filter also check fan is operating if the evaporator is clean then check freon pressure may is low so youhave to repair the leak and recharge with freon.

Ice forms on the coils of a white westinghouse dehumidifier

if the filter is clean than it most likely is low on freon with the right tools you could add freon
