Question about Sony Ericsson Walkman W810i Cellular Phone

1 Answer

I dropped my phone a week ago and since it has read 'No access to netw.' Ive tried other sim cards from other carriers in said phone and it has worked. The sim from my phone will work in another phone (that rules out the sim card as the prob). Now after a week the other carrier sim wont work and still has the same message reading as above. Any help would be appreciated. May have to get it repaired.

I cleaned the sim connectors with acetone but to no avail.

I feel that when I've dropped it that it may have caused damage to the circuit board and/or made a loose connection to the sim connector pins.

What is the 'jumper trick'? If it may be useful to try.

Do you recommend me opening up the phone to see if there are any loose connections or cracks in the PCB?

    thankyou so much nonotech.

your insight into this problem has helped me very much.

you are correct in saying that I dont know what jumper trick or where the sim ic is. That one is definitely for the experts.

I'll restrain from opening the phone up (although my first instinct is to poke around and have a look) and leave it and get it looked at.

Thankyou again for your assistance with my matter.

I will let you know what the diagnosis is.

The only possible solutions are Replacing/Refreshing the Sim IC and or re-soldering the Sim Card connector. The dropping might have cause internal damage to the PCB (Circuit board) and the sim ic or the sim card connector (pins) might have become loose. If refreshing or resoldering the sim ic/sim card connectors don't help, jumper trick might also helpful. Just to make sure before you take it to a mobile repairing shop, try cleaning the sim connector using a cotton but dampen with Acetone or Spirit. You can also use alcohol.

I am sure that it's not the sim card, but the handset which is having the problem. This is a common issue and sometimes neither sim card works. You were lucky that the other sim card worked for a while.

I can confirm that this can be repaired but needs to be done by an experience/certified technician. It's not recommended to try yourself without proper knowledge and experience, you might make another mistake and cause another damage.

Let me know if you need further help.

Good Luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Jumper is not what you can try without it's knowledge. As you just asked me and I knew that you don't know what it is so I won't recommend you. It's a tough task dealing with minute (very tiny) wires and connectors on the board. Most of all, you'll need all the mobile repairing tools which would cost you more than the price of your Handset. In addition, you need knowledge and experience. If you have suitable or supported set of Screw Drivers, you can try opening it up and see how things are inside, but don't do anything unless you are sure about it. My question is "Will you be able to identify the Sim IC?" and another "Will you be able to find out the cracks if it's inside the 2nd or 3rd or 4th layer of the Board?" I don't think so. For your information, there are 5 layers of circuit on a single board of a mobile phone. Be sure about everything before you proceed otherwise if wish you get it repaired from a repair shop, they will charge you double for what should pay, it's usual that if a phone is brought opened to a repairing shop, the fee is higher as they consider it as repaired. A mobile repaired one time is more time consuming and tougher to repair it again. Even though you do nothing with it, they have the right to say since they are the one who would repair.

    Hope this helps.

My zte savvy phone is 1 month old and a week ago

Could be Billing, Airplane Mode, Data service is disabled, SIM card has been deactivated by the network provider's management system. I mean, unless we have a screen shot of a few places on this phone, I doubt anyone would able to help.

I would say start with the basics: Remove the SIM, the battery, for about a minute. Then try to insert them back to their proper places and give it a shot. From there, if you sim is the problem, the unit should give you a SIM card error, if it is not reading the SIM at all.

The fastest way to resolve this is to take a quick walk to your carrier's nearest office. They can swap your sim, and check your account for any new features changes or blocks.

Cant dial out it is stating only emergency calls only

I'll need some more information, such as what model of samsung phone you have, what carrier, is the phone locked?

However a general reason for this kind of problem is that the sim card is either not activated or isn't being recognized by the phone due to a bad/broken sim reader.
I would recommend bringing it to a repair shop near by or call your carrier (from another phone ofcourse) and ask them to fix it(if it's under warranty).

Other than that if it worked before and just randomly stopped, I would check for water damage inside the phone if you're comfortable opening it.

If you bought the phone under a year a ago, I would say send it to warranty, but that will take an average of 2 weeks. Bringing it to a repair store will take a week or less depending on the store.

If you know what model/carrier/lock statues your phone is, post back because it might just be incompatible with what you're trying to use it on(carrier wise).

I entered my pin in wrong and it asked for my puk, i lost that stuff a long time ago. i tried turning it off nd back on bt now it wont go 'home' until i've entered my puk. i've tried...

These directions are for an AT and T phone, but other than that would be the same for any carrier.

A PUK (PIN Unlock Key) code is required to unlock SIM cards that have become locked following three successive incorrect PIN entries. If your SIM card becomes locked, you will need to get a PUK code from your phone carrier to unlock your SIM card.

You can obtain your phone's PUK code from your carrier in one of these ways:

Log in to Your

Use a Technical Support Chat

Contact your carriers Customer Care

Get Your Phone's PUK Code Online

Go to the Phone/Device page.

From the My Phone/Device screen, select the Unblock SIM Card link under the My Make & Model heading.

The Unblock SIM screen will display your PUK code and will give you instructions for unblocking your SIM Card.

Once you receive your PUK code, you will need to enter it into your phone to set a new PIN code.

Note: If you enter the wrong PUK code 10 times in a row, your SIM card will be invalidated, and you will need to purchase a new SIM Card. The phone will display the following error: "PUK blocked call operator

Hi pls how can fix htc tnty 11, if turn it on it will show sim card is missing pls help me i love my phone thank

Replacing the phone is not the solution to the problem with the phone, so do not be scared, you will still be having your phone but run through this information below to be able check and solve the problem with the phone.

First you need to check if it is the phone that is faulty or the sim card, to know if it is the phone, try out another sim card in it, if it reads the sim card then you know that the problem is from the sim you put in, then you either get a sim swap for replacement or you get a new sim card.

But if it does not read the sim card, then you need to understand that the phones sim card carrier is bad and the solution to that is for you to try pad the back of the sim card on the sim card carrier, or have the phone disassembled then solder a little lead on the sim carrier so it will make proper contact with the sim card and read it.

Take care and good luck
Hope this helps!

Where is the SIM card on a SCH-u740

Again, if you were familiar with cell phone technologies you would know that CDMA phones do not use SIM cards. Only GSM phones do. CMDA carriers like Verizon, Sprint and Alltel will never have SIM cards in their phones. The contacts are stored directly to the phone and in the case of Verizon, you have Backup Assistant which sends your contacts to a safe place.

Carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile are the only carriers that use SIM cards since they are GSM companies.
