Hi roby

When this happens it is usually because the thread-needle combination isn't correct for your fabric.
Your Brother's manual should have a guide but if that's not the case you can view this one for help.

SOURCE: Sewing machine straight stitch is not straight

Hey. It's full out possible that you have it on the right setting...but concider this - the switcher inside the sewing machine could be broken (ie. It's moving to different stitches - but not the one you have the outside set for)

It happened to me (pc o crap singer model)

If you have put a new needle in then the chances are the machine has gone out of time, you can either take it in to the repair shop or you can contact me and I will attach timing instructions drivewithken@blueyonder.co.uk

SOURCE: As I'm sewing a straight line, my bobbin thread

When a machine skips stitches like you described either the needle is in backwards, the machine's thread could have jumped out of a guide, the needle is the wrong style for the fabric being sewed or you need to take it to a technician. So try a new needle first, they can be bent without looking bent and skip just like you described. Then double check your threading. If the fabric your sewing is a stretch fabric then a ball point needle should be used. A sharp type point needle will not sew on stretch fabric. If your machine has a drop in bobbin or a bobbin that loads from the front of your machine, the flat part of your needle faces the rear of the machine. Good Luck, I hope this helps.

SOURCE: why is my machine skipping stitches

this is caused by uneven winding of the bobbin, sometimes the spool of thread winds unevenly when it travels up and down the spool. the best solution i have found is to use small spools of thread when winding the bobbins

I have a CS 6000i which I have really appreciated. But now it is skipping stitches - mostly skipping. I have been sewing the same project and it had been sewing fine. What will fix it?

try increasing/decreasing the needle thread tension for the added material thickness
use scrap material until you get it right

How do I stop my Juki DDL-8700 machine from skipping stitches?

set up on quilting table? wheres the oil pan?? if your machine sews fine straight and skips on curves i think you are lifting the presser ft as you make the turn. theres nothing wrong with the machine. you could always change the needle which is always the first thing when you encounter a sewing problem.

lower your needle. If up to high can't catch the bobbin thread.

I think the timing is out on my janome 2039 sewing machine

It is very possible that the timing is off, which often occurs with broken needles. A common symptom is that the needle will not pick up the bobbin thread. Missed stitches aren't necessarily timing related--be sure to install brand needles often and use the correct needle for the fabric & thread you are using. Using the wrong needle will often cause skipped stitches.
