Raypak 2100 405a pool/spa heater showing GVO code. I have replaced in this order pilot light assembly( as it was showing SPK error) no luck, tech tested ign module and after the third attempt said PC board was bad so I replaced it my self with the newer version and got GVO so I replaced the Robert Shaw 7000 with the newer HoneyWell one and I'm STILL getting GVO. I can smell gas while the ignitor is popping and I can see a spark if I ground it so I can only assume no gas ?? any ideas on next step?

Yes I believe you are in the correct neighborhood. I tested between the PV and MV/PV terminals at the valve during the startup and only getting 14 ish Vac and the trouble shooting guide for the 405a says it should be 24Vac so it must be in the PC board. I'm assuming the way the system works is when it calls for the pilot it should send 24vac to the PV to open the PilotValve and when that fires satisfactorily it will send the 24Vac to the MV terminal for MainValve to open and fire the main burner grid/assmebly. Does that sound like a safe assumption or do you think it could still be in the gas pressure, I do not have a manometer.

GVO means the units gas valve is open or at least the circuit is. You will need to look at two things:

First, is the valve hooked up properly? Pull the leads from the valve and check incoming voltage during the ignition sequence. If it is present then the problem is the valve itself.

Second, assuming power is getting to the valve during ignition sequence, hook a manometer to the pilot port and look for pilot gas pressure during the ignition sequence. If none is present replace the valve.

Yes, that is the sequence. The manometer then verifies if pressure is present at either outlet as the unit tries to fire. A slack-tube manometer is $40 but a very specific tool not likely to be used again. Will the tech help out some more at no additional charge since to date it seems they have been unable to solve your problem?
