Since you have the Windows 7 Ultimate CD, you can just reinstall the whole operating system.
First insert the cd on the drive.
Restart the computer, wait for the option to (Press any key to boot from cd) then do that.
Let Windows gather files for installation then when prompted as to where you are going to install Windows, you can do a quick format and you can also make a partition on your hard drive.
Then after you have formatted and made a partition, just follow the instructions for the installation of Windows.

Computer turns on and after its done showing loading bar a blue screen appears . the computer then restarts with a black screen showing start windows normal, or startup repair. i chose startup repair

Try running the Check Disk Utiltiy.
To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

Hello,

There are errors in the operating system that's why it's not letting you to get into the operating right away. It's asking you for the Operating System reinstallation disc. If you have the disc, insert it the dvd player and restart the computer. The Disc will automatically be detected and the computer will ask you to press any key to boot to the cd. Just press any key. It will then bring you to the page which will ask you to install or repair. Just select repair and let it load. Follow the on-screen instructions. It usually work except if the operating system is seriously messed up. If no go, you don't have any other choice but to do the operating system reinstallation. But the operating system reinstallation will erase all the files and documents that you have in your computer.

If you can still get into your operating system, back up all the files and documents which are important by saving them in an external hard drive or a USB flash drive. After backing up those files, do the complete reinstallation of the operating system.

Click on the correct operating system that your computer is running in the choice below so that you will be directed tot the guide that I made.

1. Windows Vista

2. Windows 7

3. Windows XP

My son accidently shut his laptop down whilst installing microsoft office and now he has an error on startup: status: oxcoooooe9. I tried rebooting and starting in safe mode but it always goes back to...

Instead of re-installing the Operating System you can do an Operating System repair. Boot to the Windows Operating System installer disc,. If you have XP, boot to the XP installer disc then enter the setup program. There will be an option that says "Press R to Repair Computer". Press letter R then let the setup finish. For Vista/7, boot to the installed disc then select "Startup Repair" This will repair all corrupted Windows file and will keep your data intact,

Hope this help.

I would reinstall your operating system fresh after doing a full format, remember to back up your hard drive. I have never had satisfactory results from any virus scanner or system restore.

Error code at startup

Re: windows Vista will not start I had the same problem and came across this solution that worked for me as well: 18 Aug 2009 07:28PM I was getting a the same error codes and couldn't get Windows to boot up at all. I went to BIOS set up (restart your computer and hit F12 when the BIOS screen comes up), went to onboard devices and changed the SATA Operations from ACHSI (don't know how it got there) to the factory default setting ATA. Then I started up in "repair mode" (which was an option that was coming up when I tried to boot up before but never worked) - it went through a repair check and went to login screen.
Prior to finding this - I tried several things including start up from the Reinstallation disc, but nothing worked. I was ready to buy a new hard drive, but don't have to. Works fine!
Not sure what caused the problem to start with. It is an "Inspiron 1520"
