Question about Jenn-Air JBL2088HES Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

How do I find out if there has been any type of recall connected to my piece of **** Jenn-Air JBL2088HES Fridge?

The resource you have pointed out is as you have stated, referring to Jenn-Air appliances and even some of the fridge models. I had already scoured that area for my particular model and found nothing. Are you saying that if I found nothing on that site, then in fact there is no recall related to my unit?

The other part of my question that for some reason, clearly didn't show up in the field with my original question is in regards to the fact I have a fridge sealed unit failure and the unit is although over the 5 year age from actual manufacture date, only just a few months and failed. Does a call to customer service and possible escalation sound like something that makes sense or are these people just about damage control and playing the numbers. A fridge that cost over 3k should last at least 10 years in my mind.

My original question sat in cue for around 20 minutes before it appeared to send off? Maybe somehow it was too long or something. I thought you overlooked the other half of my question until I referred to the original field. Sorry about that.

That doesn't help me. If you would have looked at the page you refered me to, it clearly states the bottom freezer style fridge is not part of the recall. Thanks anyway

The main site of concern is consumer affairs. You need to do some research on your product. I directed you to the place you need to look to find any recalls on your product if there are any. The page did have Jenn-Air listed so from there you can find additional info on that Maker.

If there was a recall you can surely call consumer affairs or even customer service. If the unit is out of warranty even by a few months there will most likely not be much you can do unless you can somehow prove failure of a component before warrantee expiration. I agree that with the price paid there should be a longer warantee on the unit. I would check all of the fine print in the warrantee to see exactly what is covered and for how long. 5 years does not neccessarily cover the whole thing. Most often than not with any product there are longer coverages for specific parts.

    I wish you luck.

I'm getting a wierd sound coming from my JBL2088HES refrigerator. It is a buzz like an electric shaver followed by a click. It seems to happen in 3 min intervals. Any Idea what it could be?

It sounds like it could be the compressor overload relay or the compressor itself. Lets hope that it is the overload relay, most compressor replacements are very expensive.

The overload/relay isn't very expensive and replacing it will be cheaper than calling a repair tech to tell you if it is the compressor or the overload/relay.

This is a relatively simple repair, if you look at your compressor you will find two wires connected to a small box ( overload/relay )
To remove the overload first you must remove the metal retainer by unhooking it with a pair of needle nose pliers.
Now remove the overload relay by pulling it away from the compressor.

The relay for your refrigerator has a capacitor connected to it, the capacitor and the relay are sold as one piece part # 67005560.

all that you have to do is remove the old relay with the capacitor from the wires by pulling the plug off and connecting the new overload/relay/capacitor to it, reinstall the relay to the compressor and you are done.

Good Luck

Icicles are forming in the fridge - on the piece on the back of the fridge

This is due to the door not sealing all the way. Check the seals around both doors. You can also tile the unit back more so the doors close shut easier.

MAYBE!  Our Jenn-Air side by side has a similar model number to yours and it was recalled on March 10.  Check on maytag's recall page to see if your fridge has been recalled by entering your model and serial number.

Jenn-Air side by side fridge, leaking from the freezer

I'm not 100% sure here.. but I suspect you might have moisture in the lining of your fridge.. Not a good thing. It may mean your heater (to keep moisture out of the lining) is faulty. In that case it's quite difficult to fix.. The ice up in the lining is probably not due to a drip-pan. Sorry I haven't answered your question, but thought it worthwhile mentioning the other possibility. PS most drip-pans sit on top of the compressor under the fridge, accessible from behind the fridge. Usually there is a drain tube down to the pan. This can sometimes get blocked up & may need some cleaning solution like white king (bleach) pored down it, to get rid of mold or whatever's blocking it.
