I had someone bring me a laptop that had been dropped, and it would not boot, it said operational system could not be found. At that point I decided to remove the hard drive and reseated it back into place and press power, the computer booted up without a problem. The point I'am making is that the hard drive can get knocked out of position making things look worse than they really are, if you are having similar problems remove it and re-seat it back into position it will work or it won't.

I can not get past the blue screen unmountable_ boot_ volume even in safe mode.

You Dell Latitude cannot detect the hard disk.
First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

No boot sector on internal hardware

There are several causes for this. First make sure the Bios recognizes the Hard Drive as the Primary Hard Drive. Second, double check to be sure the drive is properly seated and connected . If these are both done and set properly your drive has either been erased or lost it's master boot record due to a Virus or Error. You can try using the Windows recovery system to recover the boot sector but I would simply use system recovery and format the drive and reload it to factory specification.

Dell Latitude C610 doesn't recognize hard drive

when you took out the old hard drive
there is a black hard drive connector
this would have holes to push on to the new hard drive
without this, it will not plug into the motherboard
be careful if one of the pins breaks the hard drive wont work

Dell d600 latitude laptop

Hi

Dell Latitude D600 can only accommodate one internal hard drive. You can however install a 2nd Hard Drive as a drive module.

Check the picture below. The HDD Drive Module fits in in place of the CD/DVD Drive.

Let me know if further is needed.
