A regular rechargeable AA. Even the best high quality type. The key point will be a metal piece attached already for soldering by yourself.

The battery does not seem to work anymore as it should be a rechargable battery. Even if i charge it for more than 8 hours, the battery goes out quickly. I want to know what kind/type rechargable battery...

In most shavers it is possible to strap the EQUIVALENT VOLTAGE/CURRENT cells in series/parallel to give the correct specified rating needed for the battery. If the original is hard to find or is very epensive I have tried many times to change with AAA or AA with rating of over 1000mA cells to be soldered together as required.
I hope you can remove and check the spaces within to try with this arrangement. If not replace with the original from Panasonic.

Two brand new Hitachi BSL1815X Lithium Batteries won't recharge (UC18YGSL charger and DS 18DSAL drill)

These batteries have big problems that Hitachi doesn't address very well. Unlike NiCad batteries, Lith-Ion ones must be periodically used and recharged to retain their battery functions, i.e. if they have been sitting on the shelf at a store for an extended period of time, chances are they will be dead when bought and will not accept a charge. If they go dead i.e. no little red light on the charger when you plug the battery unit's basically junk.

If you can return them or exercise the warranty do so. If / when you get new ones DO NOT completely discharge them like you would NiCads. Lith-Ion batteries do not have the "battery memory" issues that NiCads have which means you don't lose running time if you don't fully discharge the battery unit prior to recharge. Completely discharging before recharge will ultimately kill them. Use the 1815X till almost dead and then charge it. It is also recommended Lith-Ion batteries not be stored fully charged i.e. charge the 1815X fully, drive a couple bolts or screws, remove the battery unit and then put it away. Do not leave battery unit plugged into the tool when you put the tool away. This will discharge and kill the battery unit.

There are non-Hitachi substitute batteries now on the market. I'm guessing the same precautions apply but I don't own one of the replacements so I don't truly know.

The actual batteries in the Hitachi BSL 1815X are Sanyo UR18650SAX lithium ion batteries. Lithium Ion cells aren't all that easy to get commercially because of handling & safety requirements. Not certain if you can take apart the 1815X and swap out the bad Sanyo cells.

Need replacement battery

You can try googling the internet or contacting customer support to see if U can get a replacement battery. Is the battery taking some kind of a charge? If it is taking a charge that lasts a short time, U can get by by checking the players ac in voltage. Example: If it is 9 volts, U can get a 6 d cell battery holder from the internet, and go to and go into wires and connectors. Get the two prong wire that has an two alligator leads on the other end. You can buy a universal 6V-12V battery pack charger from this site, and get the powerizer 10000 mah rechargeable d cells to boot. U might want to use the .9 Amp setting, or the 1.8 amp setting if yopu are feeling adventurous. The powerizer batteries have sometimes leaked, especially the smaller C size when using this setting(1.8 amp) The site also sells compatible tips that will fit that connector. If the battery cannot take ANY kind of a charge, what kind of battery is it? If it is built in, youre in luck. If it is a clip on detachable type, U have a problem as the cutoff voltage with those type of players is typically higher on the ac in jack since the player isnt recognizing that discharged battery pack is still connected. For that, you could try a 8 d cell battery holder and just use alkalines if you don't want to risk cell reversal with your rechargeables, or just get the 8.4 Volt battery pack that site sells. I also recommend accupower evolution low self discharge rechargeables, found at thomas id U have the cash. Good luck, and let me know how it turns out. Hint: the voltage rating of the battery power supply listed on the player may be lower than the AC in jack. Consult your manual. Use the specifications used in the battery listed. A 7.4 lithium ion pack or a 7.2 nimh battery pack will work if it is basically a 9 volt circuit. A 7.4 litium ion battery included with the player would mean you would use 6 D cells inserted in a battery holder hooked to this unit.
